Lady Gaga Says She Became a ‘Horrible Human Being’ While Playing The Countess in ‘AHS’
Though Lady Gaga’s Oscar-nominated performance in A Star Is Born is easily the pop icon’s most celebrated on-screen turn, she also took home the Golden Globe in 2016 for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel. She played The Countess. Though fans fawned over the seductive, sinister, self-serving, and blood-sucking vampire, Gaga did not love the women she became while working on the show.
The Countess was merciless and vengeful; she was willing to do the unthinkable — use the lives of children for her own benefit — and engage in hedonistic behavior immediately before or after the fact. During an Actress Round Table for The Hollywood Reporter, Gaga discussed the show with Glenn Close, Nicole Kidman, Regina King, and more. She explained that, of all her former characters, she does not possess the urge to have a sit-down with The Countess.
Why Lady Gaga wouldn’t want to sit down with The Countess from ‘American Horror Story’
Lady Gaga explained why she didn’t admire the person she became while working on AHS: Hotel. She told THR:
“I would not want to sit down with The Countess at all because who I became during that time is just a horrible human being.”
King chimed in to comment that The Countess “was a cold piece of work,” before Gaga continued on:
“Really and truly, she is a horrible vampire. I swear to you that the human being I became during that time…I just want to apologize to everyone in my life…She was the most shameless character.”

Gaga went on to explain that the character’s action revealed her lack of empathy and compassion — the complete absence of a heart.
Lady Gaga recounts The Countess’ most appalling behaviors
Gaga recounted aspects of The Countess for her fellow actors; she gave the cliff notes, which were enough to seal the deal. She said:
“The woman would feed after having sex and killing people. Then, the way she would keep herself young is by funneling the blood through children that she would kidnap.”

Though Gaga has no urge to chat with The Countess, she would love to sit down with Ally from A Star Is Born to give her a big hug and to let her know it’s all going to be alright.
