Lala Kent Says She ‘Kicked’ a Date ‘to the Curb’ After He Failed a Background Check With Her P.I.
In the fall of 2021, Vanderpump Rules cast member Lala Kent broke up with her then-fiancé and the father of the child, Randall Emmett.
Now Kent is looking forward to new love in her future. However, she is dating with certain criteria in mind, and the reality TV star revealed she “kicked” a person” to the curb” recently for not passing a background check with her private investigator.
Lala Kent once admitted she hired a ‘P.I. guy’ to examine potential dates
In February 2022, Kent hosted an Amazon Live session with fans. She opened up about her dating life and shared that she would be looking deep into a person’s history before going further with them. As such, she had hired a “P.I. guy” to run background checks.
“I will never welcome someone into my life again without a full background check,” she said. “And I mean in-depth. I gotta see what your credit is. I need to know your family history. I need to know everything you’ve been involved with. I’m going deep.”
She continued, “I now have, like, a P.I. guy who I just randomly send people to. I’m like, ‘Hey, before I go anywhere with this person, I’m going to need to know his story.’ Damaged, I guess, right? Who knows? I’m not doing what I did back then.”

Kent recently shared that the private investigator dug up information about a date that led her to drop them.
“The last date I went on, it was a group date because remember y’all, that’s the only thing I’m comfortable with right now,” she said during a new Amazon Live stream. And he was fine, but the P.I. check didn’t come back so great. So I had to kick him to the curb.”
Kent also added that she has not “been on a date since” and that she only does mom-and-daughter dates with her baby, Ocean.
Lala Kent does not communicate with Randall Emmett much
Kent and Emmett are co-parenting their daughter, but Kent does not talk to her ex-fiancé much.
In December 2021, she told Page Six that, although nothing was “set in stone” in regards to their co-parenting arrangement at the time, she and Emmett don’t interact much. She explained, “We send very short messages through an app about Ocean and then we call it a day.”
She continued, “I am only interested in talking about Ocean and things that concern her. Other than that, you know, I’ve really just moved on with my life, which has felt really great.”
Since the breakup, Kent has also been open about the flaws of their relationship, including alleged “red flags” about Emmett that she overlooked. She also said that Emmett cheated on her many times when they were still together.
