Why Lamar Odom and Khloé Kardashian Are No Longer on Speaking Terms

Seven years ago, Khloé Kardashian filed for divorce from Lamar Odom after four years of marriage. Though their love story had come to an unfortunate end, the two remained in each other’s lives in their years following their split. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was even there for the former NBA player after he overdosed in a Las Vegas brothel in 2015.

From an outside perspective, it seemed that the former couple would always have a relationship. However, during a recent interview, Odom revealed that he and Kardashian no longer speak to one another and shared the heartbreaking reason why that is.

Kardashian and Odom’s relationship kicked off in 2009 after they met at a party for Odom’s teammate Metta World Peace (formerly known as Ron Artest).

In a 2011 interview with iVillage, Kardashian admitted that she wasn’t attracted to Odom at first.

“The first time I met Lamar, I wasn’t that down for him,” she said. “It was typical — I was in a nightclub, he was a basketball player…I wasn’t down for that whole… thing. But once I got to meet him. His heart, his smile — I mean, I love everything about Lamar — but at first nothing really attracted me to him.”

Eventually, Odom won over Kardashian’s heart, and their relationship quickly evolved. One month after their meeting, the athlete proposed to the reality star, which was captured on KUWTK.

Nine days later, the couple tied the knot in an elaborate ceremony in front of friends and family.

Shortly after their wedding, Kardashian and Odom launched their very own reality show, Khloé and Lamar, which documented their life as a married couple for two seasons.

Though the show made it seem like Kardashian and Odom had the perfect marriage, their relationship eventually fell apart after reports surfaced that the NBA star had cheated on the Good American founder and was abusing drugs.

While Kardashian tried to hide her marital issues from the public eye, she eventually filed for divorce. However, she halted the process after Odom’s near-fatal overdose in 2015.

Following Odom’s recovery, Kardashian moved forward with their divorce, which was finalized in December 2016.

Though the pair kept in contact in the years following their divorce, Odom says there hasn’t been much communication between him and Kardashian lately.

While appearing on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy on May 24, the Darkness to Light author revealed he is no longer on speaking terms with Kardashian or her family.

“Unfortunately, you know, due to my behavior and some bad decisions, we don’t really talk any longer,” he told host Andy Cohen. “I miss their family tremendously.”

Looking back, Odom longs to have the love and support he once received from the Kardashian-Jenners.

“Of course, anyone’s always gonna miss love,” Odom said. “That’s genuine. You know, the personalities, just spending time with them, it was one of the best times in my adult life.”

Despite his past actions, Odom hopes to mend fences with the Kardashians and be back in their good graces one day.

“We have to live with the decisions that we make,” he explained, “and then, hopefully in time people heal and [will] be able to forgive me.”
