Why Lamar Odom’s Friends ‘Didn’t See Eye to Eye’ With Khloé Kardashian
When Lamar Odom met Khloé Kardashian for the first time at a party, he had no idea she would be his wife 30 days later. However, their attraction took over both of them, and the relationship developed fast. While the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star’s family fully supported her and Odom, his inner circle had opposing views of their marriage.

Kardashian and Odom shocked their fans when he proposed to her after a month. In Sept. 2009, the couple got married at an LA mansion, which aired on KUWTK. Once the wedding ended, they moved into a mansion in Tarzana, California, for $3.95 million, per the Daily Mail.
During their marriage, Odom spent most of his time in his and Kardashian’s mansion. While getting to know his new bride, he admitted in Darkness to Light that he isolated himself from his loved ones. One of the people Odom mentioned in his book was his longtime friend, Greg Nunn. In a passage, the former Lakers star said Nunn became upset with Odom’s neglectfulness. He decided to confront Kardashian about his friend’s absence during a Super Bowl party at the couple’s home in 2010.
“Right about halftime, Greg went to the kitchen to fix a drink while Khloé was preparing a vegetable platter to take out to the main room before the halftime performance ended,” Odom wrote. “Greg didn’t always see eye to eye with Khloé. In hindsight, very few of my friends did. He had been with me since the beginning, while Khloé had only been around for six months, so a little power struggle was understandable.”

Odom continued to say that Kardashian stood up for herself against his friend. During their exchange, Nunn blamed the Revenge Body host when Odom stopped returning his calls. Instead of beating around the bush, Kardashian said she knew her husband’s friends thought she didn’t want him speaking to them. She also confirmed to Nunn that if Odom wished to talk to him, he would.
The athlete said his isolation became a “recurring theme” during his marriage to Kardashian. In addition to his friends, Odom wrote that he “rarely” saw his and Liza Morales’ children– Destiny Odom and Lamar Odom, Jr.
“I overlooked and disregarded a lot of friendships when I fell in love with Khloé,” Odom said. “My head was spinning, but that wasn’t an excuse to separate myself from my friends.”

Kardashian and Odom’s marriage took a turn for the worse in 2013. After four years of marriage, his infidelity and drug use caused the reality star to file for divorce. However, Odom’s 2015 overdose bonded them again when Kardashian made all of his medical decisions. The mother of one decided to move forward with the divorce in 2016.
In May 2021, Odom appeared on Andy Cohen’s Sirius XM show. The host asked the author where he stands with Kardashian and her family. Although he said he misses the reality show star and her famous tribe, Odom said he keeps his distance from them.
“Unfortunately, you know, due to my behavior and some bad decisions, we don’t really talk any longer,” he told Cohen. “I miss their family tremendously.”
