How did Lauren London become famous?

London rose to fame back in 2003. At just 18, she was booked for a starring role in Pharrell Williams’ iconic “Frontin’” music video. From there, the actor’s fame skyrocketed. She went on to star opposite Clifford “TI” Harris in the hit 2006 movie ATL, she has also starred in everything from Almost Christmas to BET’s The Game.

The 36-year-old was also set to star in the FX drama series Snowfall after John Singleton handpicked her role of Franklin’s Aunt Louis. However, as production was revving up, London discovered she was pregnant with her second child, and she had to make a tough choice.

“Lauren was handpicked by John Singleton to do Snowfall. She read, got the part, shot the pilot…did stunts…this was her dream role,” London’s late boyfriend, Nipsey Hussle said in an interview with GQ. “And then she got pregnant with our son. That was a really hard decision for her to make.”

“It was the toughest decision of my career by far,” London added. “Do I choose my soul or myself? I went with my soul.”

Lauren London has returned to acting after a long hiatus

London was returning to acting in the BET original series, Games People Play, after the birth of her son, Kross Asghedom, when her boyfriend and Kross’s father, Nipsey Hussle, was shot and killed on March 31, 2019.

Sometime after, London told GQ, “I haven’t gotten to digest the fullness of it because it’s overwhelming, and I’m in the process of healing myself and my family.”

Now, it appears that London is ready to return to work. Her good friend, Michael B. Jordan, convinced her to star opposite him in the Amazon Prime thriller, Without Remorse.

“Michael reached out to me as a friend and he was so unsure if I was even going to ever work again,” London told Entertainment Tonight“And he was like, ‘Look, I’m unsure if this is what you want to do, but I have to follow my intuition, I have to ask you if can you just read the script.’”

In the end, London took the role because she felt she deeply resonated with the storyline since it deals with grief and loss.
