In the history of Law & Order: SVU, we’ve seen a lot of ADAs come and go. However, some stand out above all the rest. Fans of the series recently weighed in on which ADA of the squad “had the most challenging cases” in court. We have all the details to know.
‘Law & Order: SVU’ fans reveal which ADA ‘had the most challenging cases’ in court
The job of an ADA, or assistant district attorney, can be extremely difficult. They have to prosecute the cases and hopefully get justice for the victims in the case, but sometimes cases can be a bit more challenging than one might expect. That’s the premise of a Reddit poll that fans recently participated in.
On August 25, 2021, a fan on Reddit made a poll titled, “Who had the most challenging cases to deal with in court?” They continue, “Of these ADA’s who had the most challenging cases to deal with in court?”
The options are Rafael Barba (Raúl Esparza), Casey Novak (Diane Neal), and Alexandra Cabot (Stephanie March). All three are popular ADAs who dealt with quite a lot as the ADA of SVU. 236 people took part in the poll, and Barba won with 93 votes. Cabot came in second with 81 votes, and Novak was in third with 62 votes.
Fans weighed in with their thoughts in the comments
Some fans also chose to leave a comment with their thoughts. One fan brings up the fact that Cabot was in Witness Protection after a case where an attempt was made on her life.
“I mean, Cabot ended up in Witness Protection over one of hers…” a fan recalled.
Another fan commented back with their own thoughts, adding that Novak was actually suspended over a case. Barba himself almost faced prison time over one of his cases.
“And Novak was suspended over one of hers…,” a fan said. “And Barba nearly went to prison over one of his… I guess being the ADA for SVU really screws you over at one point or another. Carisi better be careful.”
1 fan says Cabot and Novak ‘had cases where their lives were [at] risk’
One fan wonders why fans voted Barba over the other choices. It’s true Cabot and Novak dealt with a lot over their time on the show as ADA of the squad, including their lives being at “risk.” Cabot had to go into Witness Protection when an attempt was made on her life as mentioned earlier. Novak was hurt by a victim’s family member according to her Fandom page, and her life has been at risk more than once.
“I’m genuinely confused why so many people have voted for Barba over Alex and Casey,” a fan added. “They had cases where their lives were [at] risk and they took on very big entities. Unfortunately, due to the shift in the show’s writing, this didn’t happen very often with Barba.”
Fans have their own opinions when it comes to the ADA who “had the most challenging cases” in court in SVU, but Barba won the poll.
