Season 5, Episode 19 of ‘Law & Order: SVU’ called ‘Sick’

The episode follows a situation when a person in a chatroom makes comments about hurting a five-year-old child. Eventually the cops are notified, and they learn the person, named Jeremy Ostilow, is in New York City. SVU gets involved, and they learn it’s actually a young 12-year-old boy, Jeremy Jr. (JJ), who was saying the disturbing things. He said it was “just a joke.” It turns out he has a five-year-old sister named Lisette, and detectives are concerned about JJ hurting her. He says he imagines “hurting” people when they upset him.

His sister reveals to Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) that JJ has “mutilated” her dolls according to Captain Donald Cragen (Dann Florek). He gets held at a psychiatric facility, and they determine JJ has terrorized other kids as well.

Detective Fin Tutuola once shockingly hit a kid in the head with a dodgeball

Detective Fin goes with Detective John Munch (Richard Belzer) to JJ’s school to investigate his behavior, which isn’t good. The school suspected he hurt another student in a fight in the locker room with a kid named Mitchell, who was hurt during the incident. Mitchell is the bully of the school.

Fin and Munch head to talk to Mitchell, who is playing dodgeball with other kids in the gymnasium. Viewers see Mitchell hitting another kid with a dodgeball, and Fin catches the ball Mitchell throws next, shockingly hitting him in the head with it, which he shouldn’t have done.

A fan on Reddit recently shared a short video clip of Fin and Munch in the gymnasium watching Mitchell hit another student with a ball from the episode. Then Fin hits Mitchell in the head with the dodgeball and the detectives and Mitchell walk off.

The detectives learn the truth, and the case gets complicated

Fin and Munch then proceed to talk to Mitchell, retelling the incident in the locker room. Apparently JJ had gotten out of the shower and a student removed his towel. He was accosted by others and hit with wet towels. Then JJ attacked Mitchell giving him a bloody nose and black eye as well as a busted lip. Mitchell admits he was “freaked out” because the entire time JJ was yelling “rape.”

The detectives determine JJ was assaulted based on the signs. JJ reveals to Dr. George Huang (BD Wong) that he can’t disclose anything because of a contract. His parents made an agreement not to talk about it. It turns out JJ was sexually assaulted by a man named Billy Tripley. His parents were given money, and Billy owns the company, Tripley Toys, that JJ’s father, Jeremy Ostilow (James Colby), previously worked for, and he was given $4 million.

Billy’s home is full of games, toys for kids, and gifts, and the detectives take Billy in. But JJ takes back his story via a video, and he disappears as his parents hid him so they could keep their money.

The detectives uncover Billy has assaulted another kid as well. However, the other child that was supposedly assaulted, April, supposedly had leukemia as well, but her grandmother, Nora Hodges, was poisoning her with mercury, further complicating matters. Her grandmother also made April lie about being assaulted by Billy as well. She is charged with fraud and attempted murder.

The detectives learn the JJ was with an uncle in Maine, and they crossed the Canadian border, and they can’t get him back. The episode ends with Jeremy having to stay in jail until he gets his son to reappear. Both cases against Billy fizzle out unfortunately. Meanwhile, Billy, who the detectives know is a child molester, celebrates after getting out in a shocking turn of events.
