‘Law & Order: SVU’: Mariska Hargitay Posts an Adorable Photo With Her On-Screen Son in Times Square
Law & Order: SVU is officially back for season 22, and fans seriously couldn’t be more thrilled. They also love behind-the-scenes content for the series, and Mariska Hargitay, who plays Captain Olivia Benson, is known to give her fans just that.
In a recent post on her Instagram page, Hargitay has seemingly found the perfect shot to pose with her on-screen son by her side. We have all the details below.
Mariska Hargitay’s on-screen counterpart has a son named Noah Porter-Benson
Olivia Benson has a son named Noah, who is played by Ryan Buggle. Benson’s journey to fully adopting him was a rough one, as they had to deal with a lot of stress and drama to get to where they are today. Noah is the biological child of Ellie Porter (Emma Greenwell), who is no longer living.
Benson found her son in 2014 in the “motel room of child pornographers” according to the show’s Fandom page for the character. Noah was sold to the couple/pornographers and wasn’t picked up after the media covered the children who had been rescued.
He was placed in the foster care system, and his mother was going to get clean so she could “testify against her pimp,” but she was brutally assaulted and killed. Benson was given temporary custody, but the biological father of Noah, Johnny Drake (Charles Halford), a sex trafficker, learned about him, and tried to get custody of him, but he was shot and killed.
Eventually, Benson is able to officially adopt her son, and give him the full name of Noah Porter-Benson. Their scenes together are always so heartfelt and appreciated by many fans.

Hargitay recently posted a super sweet photo of herself and Buggle, who plays Noah. They’re posing in Times Square, and based on the hashtags Hargitay is famous for, the pair were shooting on location for the series. She wrote a hashtag of “mid-scene selfie,” which presumably means they were filming for the show together at the time. Buggle wears his mask, and they both appear side by side. Behind them is an amazing scene of Times Square that they’re perfectly positioned in front of.
