‘Law & Order: SVU’: Why Some Fans Think Detective Rollins ‘Doesn’t Deserve Carisi’
Loyal fans of Law & Order: SVU know there has always been something there when it comes to Detective Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and ADA Dominick “Sonny” Carisi, Jr. (Peter Scanavino). It’s clear that Carisi has feelings for Rollins, and not everyone seems to be on board for it. There’s a lot of hate on Reddit for Det. Rollins and the fact that she doesn’t deserve Carisi’s devotion. Numerous fans of the series think Carisi can do better and that he deserves more than someone who can’t seem to give him the time of day.
“Rollins doesn’t deserve Carisi,” a Reddit user explained. “So many people are hoping Rollisi becomes a reality. I’m personally against it. One, I don’t like Amanda’s personality I think she’s insufferable. Rollins seems like the type to cheat and then blame it on being drunk or just not be a good girlfriend in general. Two, to me they have no chemistry or anything in common. Her and Nick made much more sense as a couple than her and Sonny. I just feel like Sonny deserves better than her.”
Fans say that Rollins and Carisi don’t have a lot in common
Many other viewers of SVU seem to agree that neither of them have anything in common really except that they work together. One user even thinks they wouldn’t be friends had they not worked together for a number of years.
“The two have nothing in common and do not fit. If they hadn’t worked together for years, they wouldn’t even be friends,” the Reddit user said. “Putting these two together is just boring and lazy writing. There have been a number of other people that have been on the show that would have been a way better fit for Carisi.”
Viewers just want Carisi to be happy
The love for Carisi is strong and people really just want him to be happy for once. It’s obvious that he has some feelings for Rollins, but some fans hope it doesn’t go anywhere more than that.
“I think people want them together because Carisi obviously has undying compassion for her and we all want him to be happy,” the user wrote. “But I agree, he deserves so much better. I love Rollins, but she’s not the type of woman you could make a wife, and I think Carisi deserves a woman who is.”
There’s a lot of hate out there for Detective Rollins
Numerous fans of SVU seem to dislike Rollins’ character. One user describes her as a “mess” that can just barely get by with her current job and responsibilities.
“Honestly, Amanda has been a terrible character in general,” the Reddit user expressed. “They try to write her as this ‘deep’ and complicated character, but she isn’t. She is a mess. It’s a miracle she has a job. She screws up a lot, but then she is supposed to be this embodiment of empowerment and poise.”
