Leah Shirley Speaks Out After Amber Portwood’s TikTok Meltdown
Amber Portwood is known for her unpredictable behavior. Still, the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter star managed to shock followers when she took to TikTok to verbally attack Gary Shirley. In a lengthy rant, Portwood hurled several troubling accusations at Gary Shirley before signing off for the night. Since that live, Teen Mom fans have been weighing in on the drama between Portwood and her eldest child’s father. Now, Leah Shirley has spoken out.
Leah Shirley speaks out about the feud between her parents
Leah Shirley is still a teen but has a pretty solid understanding of her very complex family dynamic. The teen, whose birth was documented on 16 & Pregnant, has been at the center of strife between her parents a few times over the years. She was most recently dragged into drama between her parents, Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley, following her mother’s recent TikTok meltdown.
Fans have been weighing on the drama for days. One Facebook fan page asked for followers’ opinions on who is a more fit parent for Leah Shirley. While no one expected the teen to chime in, she did just that. She took to the comment section to cast her vote, stating “my dad” in response to the question. She hasn’t returned to the comments section since.
Why are Gary and Amber feuding?
Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley appeared generally cordial toward one another for much of Leah’s young life, although there have been moments of tension over the years. Things have since changed. The drama began about a year ago. Amber and Leah’s strained relationship is heavily featured in Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. Still, it hit a breaking point when Gary Shirley revealed that Leah was interested in being adopted by Gary’s wife, Kristina Shirley.
Since then, Amber and Leah have had almost no contact, according to Gary. The father of two has also claimed Portwood is not paying child support and has not paid for their shared daughter’s needs. Potwood is taking her frustrations out on TikTok, with the epic meltdown that led Leah to speak out.
A new season of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter is set to premiere on January 30. Portwood will appear, although MTV did not include her in the recently released trailer.
