LeBron James Accused of ‘Ducking Questions’ About His Association With Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs After Previously Praising Diddy’s Parties

Hip-hop star Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was once the one person everybody wanted to be associated with. His parties became a status symbol, and people were nobodies unless they got the invite. Now, though, things have changed. Ever since Diddy was arrested in September 2024 on allegations including sex trafficking and racketeering, celebrities have been doing their best to disassociate from the mogul.

LeBron James is no exception. The NBA star has spoken highly of Diddy’s parties — including in a resurfaced clip, per the New York Post — but now refuses to address the situation despite being called on to do so.

LeBron James is yet another celebrity who has dodged association with Diddy

It makes sense that most famous people would want to pretend their relationship with Diddy never existed. In the early 2000s, Diddy’s white parties were the place to be, but now, everyone who went to one is doing their best to pretend they didn’t — including basketball player LeBron James.

Earlier this year, James was called out by multiple people over refusing to speak up about Diddy’s allegations. “Lebron James been ducking smoke from Candace Owens,” Kwame Brown, a former no. 1 draft pick for the Washington Wizards, said of James’ silence, according to Sports Illustrated. “He’s been ducking questions from anyone asking him about this Diddy situation.”

Candace Owens, a controversial political commentator, previously called out James for his silence and spoke up again once Brown did, too. “I’m not okay with [Lebron’s] silence,” Owens said after hearing Brown’s words. “We have this former NBA player, Kwame Brown, and he is calling out Lebron James. I think it’s fantastic.”

Perhaps the interest in calling out James stems from James’ hard work on various social justice issues that have plagued the US in recent years, including being a big part of the Black Lives Matter movement.

LeBron James isn’t the only celebrity who is keeping quiet

It wouldn’t be fair to mention James’ silence without also noting that almost everyone who was previously associated with Diddy has remained silent as well. Rapper Ray J recently said in a TMZ documentary that he even knows of celebrities who have been trying to pay victims to avoid spilling their names.

Former record producer Suge Knight suggested that Diddy’s life could be “in danger” due to all of the people who were previously associated with him. Nobody knows how many tapes Diddy has or what’s on them, and Knight alluded to people taking strong action to ensure their names are never associated with Diddy’s alleged actions.
