New problems for the heroes of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 5 episode 2
Season 4 ended with the Legends defeating the demon Neron. Unfortunately, as is often the case in Legends of Tomorrow, while solving one problem the Legends create another. Due to how public their defeat of Neron at Heyworld was, the Legends are famous. While many of the Legends are enjoying their newfound fame, they are dealing with some issues.
Namely that the Time Bureau has been closed by Congress and therefore the Legends are dealing with funding problems. Senator Wellington isn’t sure that they can be trusted to protect history and so in the interest of transparency, former Time Bureau director Ava Sharpe and most of the Legends invite a film crew to follow their adventures. However, they invite this film crew without telling Sara, Ray Palmer, and Mick Rory, who were away dealing with the Crisis on Infinite Earths. After dealing with so many problems, and losing a friend in Oliver Queen, the last thing Sara wants is cameras in her face.
Unfortunately, there’s not much time to talk about it as a time quake happens and the Legends then have to act. Season 5 Episode 2 of Legends of Tomorrow takes the Legends — and the film crew — to 1917 Russia, where they attend Rasputin’s funeral. There’s just one tiny problem: he’s not actually dead, and bounds out of his coffins as the Legends watch. The wacky superheroes then have to deal with him being back and they all have different ideas.
Nate Heywood and Ray want to talk him out of hurting anyone. Ava and Mick want to try to kill him and Mona Wu wants to send him a love letter from the czarina.
Meet the heroes of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’…or not.
Nate and Ray and Ava and Mick’s plans don’t work out too well. And they end up leaving the director of the documentary and his camera behind with Rasputin, who invites the czar and czarina and their family for dinner. Sara and Behrad Tarazi go to fix things, with later backup from Ava and the rest of the Legends. Though Rasputin technically cannot be killed since a chit of his soul is in Hell, the Legends manage to deal with the problem by sending a tiny Ray into Rasputin’s mouth and telling him to enlarge himself while in there.
Rasputin explodes and the Legends separate his body and put it into containers. But that isn’t the end of Legends of Tomorrow season 5 episode 2. The Legends go to do an interview about their documentary, where they say that it was all fake. Their missions will now be financed by a trinket that Mick stole while in 1917 Russia.
Two different possible searches in ‘Legends of Tomorrow’
John Constantine later comes in and drinks part of Rasputin, hoping to solve the problem of how he emerged from Hell in the first place. At the end of season 4, Astra Logue unleashed some evil souls from Hell. Rasputin is only the first of those souls to come back. And John wants to visit Astra and hopefully find out how to stop her.
The episode ends with Nate and Behrad fixing Gideon, the Waverider’s artificial intelligence system. While doing so, Nate sees when Behrad took his sister Zari Tomaz’s place and a message from Zari asking him to find her. Unfortunately for Zari, Nate has no idea where to start or even who Zari is.
Burning questions about ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 5 episode 2
Legends of Tomorrow season 5 episode 2 leaves its viewers with some questions. What will John Constantine find in Hell? Will Nate remember Zari and find her?
There are many possible answers to these questions. John might find Astra and figure out how to stop her. Or in that crazy Legends way, he may cause more problems while attempting to solve one. Nate might remember Zari eventually, especially with her brother Behrad on the ship.
And Nate might end up finding Zari or he’ll meet her again through Behrad. Either way, it will be interesting to see these storylines play out. Knowing Legends of Tomorrow, there will be a lot of fun had and a lot of emotions felt along the way.
