Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet Still Quote ‘Titanic’ Together
Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio have stolen the hearts of millions in Titanic. While Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater are soul mates in the James Cameron film, the actors who portray them are platonic best friends. But even though Winslet and DiCaprio don’t have any romantic ties with one another, they still quote lines from Titanic together. Because of this, our hearts will go on.
It seems as though Jack and Rose meant it in the film when they said they’ll “never let go.” The actors just can’t seem to “let go” of their roles!
Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio are best friends
Winslet crushed the hearts of Titanic fans everywhere when she told ITV magazine that she and DiCaprio “never really fancied each other.” Still, their lack of feelings for one another might be a blessing in disguise because it means they remained close for twenty-four years without anything getting in the way of their bond.
“Luckily,” she tells ITV, “we never fancied each other. I know that’s really annoying to hear, sorry, but we really never did.” She continues, saying, “It did mean that we were just able to have this… we were able to tease each other, which we still do. It’s really amazing.”
The Titanic co-stars still run lines from the film with each other
Luckily, fans of the epic 90s movie can hold onto the fact that Winslet and DiCaprio still have ties to Jack and Rose. According to Winslet, she and the Catch Me If You Can actor still quote the odd Titanic line back and forth with one another. She tells Glamour,
“We found ourselves saying to each other, ‘Can you imagine if the world really knew the stupid things we say? I’m not going to tell you what we actually talk about, but yeah, we’re very, very close and sometimes we do quote the odd Titanic line back and forth to each other, because only we can, and we find it really funny.”
It makes us wonder what lines the two exchange. Perhaps Winslet asks Jack to “Draw me like one of your french girls.” Or maybe DiCaprio tells Winslet, “You jump I jump, Remember?” Perhaps when the two are done hanging out, DiCaprio jokes, “Don’t say your goodbyes, Rose. Don’t you give up. Don’t do it.”
Maybe we will never know which classic lines they exchange, but what we do know is that it makes us adore their friendship even more.
DiCaprio and Winslet work together whenever possible
Fans of Titanic can watch DiCaprio and Winslet play on-screen lovers in the 2008 film, Revolutionary Road. The movie, directed by Sam Mendes, tells the story of a dysfunctional couple in the 1950s who attempt to mend their broken marriage. Once again, the Titanic co-stars prove how brilliant they still are as acting partners throughout the film.
The talented actress praises DiCaprio in an interview with People, saying,
“He’s a solid, loyal person. He’s a great friend, he always has been, and not just to me, but to everyone around him. He still has friends he had when we made Titanic. He’s a stronger actor in this moment than he’s ever been. I think he’s more handsome than he’s ever been. And he feels, to me, the most settled he’s ever felt, in himself, right now, which is quite strange, really, given that there’s a lot happening around him.”
