Inside Lil Baby’s rise to fame

Lil Baby has been in the rap game for several years. He began his career in Atlanta in 2016 after signing with the label Quality Control and releasing several mixtapes that quickly earned notoriety.

Since then, he has linked with everyone from Lil Yachty and Young Thug to Drake. His single with Drake, “Yes Indeed” topped the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 6. In 2018 alone, the rapper released three successful projects.

Last year, his album My Turn and its lead single “Woah” was a massive success. It took the number one spot on the Billboard top 200 albums chart. Nearly every single song from the album also appeared on the Billboard top 100 charts.

Lil Baby’s net worth is $5 million

Since being catapulted onto the music scene and following the momentum of 2018, Lil Baby has garnered a substantial net worth. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the rapper has earned at least $5 million.

In fact, the Atlanta rapper is very much about his business demanding the correct pay if he’s going to be featured on songs. In 2020 he took to Twitter to announce his decisions, “ain doing no more features unless it’s worth it, i got tooo many,” he said via Hot New Hip Hop. “At this point it’s safe to say I want 100k for a feature 😬”

Now the 26-year-old is getting candid about why he’s not doing any more interviews.

Lil Baby says he hates doing interviews

Despite the mega-fame, Lil Baby is not a fan of interviews. He explained that he no longer does them because the thrill is gone. “I don’t got a thrill for it. Fashion show in Paris, like … cool [shrugs],” the rapper told The New York Times in February 2020. “I think I got that from prison. Like, just, you’re there, but you’re not there.”

When it’s all said and done, Lil Baby is interested in a lowkey life. “I really want to own a label like Def Jam [or] like Roc Nation,” the rapper explained. “I’d rather go that way, where I manage a Selena Gomez and get 10 percent off of it… Why wouldn’t I? I can make the same money, and I don’t have to be catching all these planes.”

These days Lil Baby is focused on his music and speaking out against social issues that continue to plague the Black community.
