Lil Uzi Vert’s Jeweler ‘Didn’t Think He Was Serious’ About His $24 Million Diamond Implant
Early February rapper Lil Uzi Vert shocked his fans when he unveiled a new forehead piercing of a pink diamond which supposedly cost the celebrity a whopping $24 million. Vert already had expressive facial tattoos, but he felt he needed something as big as a 10-carat diamond piece to complete his look. Vert’s jeweler Eliott Eliantte said that at first, they thought Vert was joking when he requested the luxurious piece. However, they realized that he was serious about going forward with the implant when he started making deposits for the jewel.
Vert gained attention in 2013
Born as Symere Woods on July 31, 1994, Vert described himself as a ‘regular kid.’ The rapper said that he never wanted to rap, yet he formed a rap group with his classmates, but the group parted ways when Vert was 17. He then dropped out of school and got a job at a Bottom Dollar store. He, however, quit the job after four days, and his mother kicked him out. This led the young rapper to start taking rap seriously.
Woods began rapping under the name Sealab Vertical. However, he changed his name to Lil Uzi Vert after someone complimented him for rapping so fast. In 2016, Vert was SoundCloud’s most-followed artist. The following year, he made it to the Forbes list of Hip-Hop cash princes and featured in the magazine’s 30 Under 30 list in music in 2018. Vert gained attention from Migos’s song ‘Bad and Boujee,’ which charted top in 2017 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
That same year, Vert got success with his song ‘XO Tour Llif3’, which made it to number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. Vert was signed on to Generation Now but fell out with some executives. In April 2019, he signed on to Roc Nation and released singles such as ‘That’s A Rack’ and ‘Sanguine Paradise.’
Vert recently got an expensive jewel
Vert unveiled a huge diamond ring sitting center on his forehead early on in February. The rapper took to Instagram to showcase his newest acquisition. Vert claimed that the diamond cost $24 million and that he’s had eyes for it since 2017. The jewel has raised mixed reactions from his fans as many criticized him for his choice of placement while others mocked it. One fan asked Vert to put the stone in a ring, but Vert said that people would make fun of him if he lost the ring. He added that he had insurance for the gem.
Others told the rapper that the diamond looked off-center, but the rapper denied the claims. However, his response made it seem like the stone was removable, and many fans thought of it as a piercing and less of a permanent implant. Some fans roasted the rapper and compared him to Marvel’s android superhero Vision. Vert updated his fans about the modification in a since-deleted photo showing his bloody face. In the tweet, Vert said that if he didn’t get the stone taken out the right way, he could die. In another tweet, the rapper said that he was OK, and he and the gem were intact.
Eliantte & Co. didn’t think Vert was serious about the modification
Vert takes his body modifications seriously, and he has the tattoos and piercings to back up the claim. When the rapper approached Eliantte & Co. looking to get the implant, the jeweler didn’t take him seriously at first. However, they soon realized that he was serious about it when he started making the payments. According to Rolling Stone, Vert’s modification is their most extravagant procedure yet. The jewelers claimed that the piercing is safe and, if maintained well, it is “perfectly fine.
According to GQ, gems can be embedded anywhere on the body using small posts with a broad base that’s anchored under the skin in a procedure called a transdermal implant, which is what Vert has done. However, the piercing is a risky affair as he could lose it or get ripped off his forehead causing damage.
