‘Little House on the Prairie’: Did Cindy Landon Remarry After Michael Landon Died in 1991?
Little House on the Prairie has a seriously memorable cast, and few could forget Michael Landon. Landon played Charles Ingalls on the show, and he also helped produce, write, and direct the show. While most of Landon’s co-stars adored him, he did cause a stir when it came to his relationship with his wife, Cindy Landon (Clerico at the time).
Sadly, Michael died in 1991 from cancer. So, did Cindy marry again after Michael’s death?
Michael Landon from ‘Little House on the Prairie’ died from cancer in 1991
Landon was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in his 50s, but he was in good spirits all the way up until his death. The actor remained hopeful that he could beat the disease despite the high mortality rate. Unfortunately, he died in 1991 and was survived by Cindy and his nine kids.
“I want to see my kids grow up,” Landon noted when he was diagnosed, according to AP News. “I want to play baseball with Sean (his 4- year-old son). I want to know if Jennifer (his 7-year-old daughter) turns out to be as good an actress as I think she will be. I want to watch Chris, my 16-year-old, become a man. I love my wife, Cindy, very much and I don’t want to leave her.″
Landon also took a more holistic approach to overcome cancer. He noted he maintained an extremely healthy diet and took digestive enzymes with each meal. He also gave himself coffee enemas. “Yup, I get filled to the rim,” he said. “Organic coffee, I might add.”
Did Michael’s wife, Cindy Landon, remarry?
Landon died nearly 30 years ago. So, did Cindy choose to remarry after? It doesn’t appear so, according to Reference. The two married back in 1983, and it seems Cindy hasn’t walked down the aisle again.
Cindy’s talked about the effects of Michael’s death as well. The two were very in love and devoted to each other, so there’s no doubt it was difficult for her and the kids. “He had told me earlier that he knew he was dying,” Cindy noted of Father’s Day, June 16, 1991. Later that day “he was in the family room, and he needed help just getting up the stairs with his portable oxygen tank.” He died on July 1.
Cindy and Michael were alone when Michael died. His last words to her were, “I love you.” And she noted she was calm when he finally died, as she knew the day was coming soon.
Michael also reportedly encouraged Cindy to date after his death, “but I haven’t dated,” she told People in 1992. “I’ve gone out with a friend, and he’s only a friend. I’m not open to romance yet.”
Michael and Cindy had quite a love story
While Michael and Cindy certainly loved each other, their romance was shrouded in controversy when it first came to light. Cindy was a young makeup artist on Little House on the Prairie, and Michael was married to Lynn Noe when they first met. Ultimately, Michael and Noe got a divorce, and he pursued a relationship with Cindy.
“The relationship lasted 19 years,” Landon said of his marriage to Noe. “I don’t consider that a failed marriage. I don’t think it was a disaster. We produced some terrific kids. We just didn’t grow in the same direction. We became different people. We both changed.”
While the divorce in the public eye was tough, it was ultimately for the best. Cindy and Michael had a wonderful love story that many will look back on fondly.
