‘Little People, Big World’: Amy Roloff’s Siblings — How Many Does She Have, Exactly?
Little People, Big World, began airing on TLC in 2006 with the central characters, Matt and Amy Roloff. Fans have watched as the couple raised their four children, got divorced, and moved on with other people. With the show’s success comes some inquisitive fans who would like to know more about Amy’s life and, in particular, her siblings. So how many siblings does Amy Roloff have, exactly?
How many siblings does Amy Roloff have?
Roloff was born in September 1962 as Amy Jo Knight to parents Gordon and Patricia Knight. She is one of four Knight children, all of whom are average-sized people. Amy Roloff’s siblings include Cyndi, Roger, and Katherine. Amy was born with a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia, which causes the limbs to grow shorter than average.
Although she rarely mentions her siblings, she did so in a 2019 Instagram post featuring herself and her then-boyfriend Chris Marek. The pair had taken a motorcycle ride together, which brought back memories of her sister Cyndi, who died in 2015. The post read, “It also reminds me so much of my older sister Cyndi, she passed away from an illness four years ago, who lived to ride.”
In October 2021, Amy shared a carousel of pictures of her family gathered in Michigan, where she was raised. In the photos, the reality TV star stood close to her father Gordon, with her brother Roger standing behind her and close to their sister Katherine.
Roloff’s brother stood up for her against bullies
Amy faced many challenges growing up as a person with achondroplasia dwarfism, especially from other children who saw her differently. Roger and Amy reminisced about their childhood memories, with Amy recalling how he would stand up for her. Roger pointed out that he used to tease her but was always on her side at the end of the day.
“It probably started when I was starting to get a little taller, faster, and stronger. But as much as I did torment her, there were times when I rallied and stuck up for her,” he said. The duo recalled a time when a bully from their school kept following Amy home and calling her names. In typical brother fashion, Roger came to her rescue.
He said, “He was a punk. I mean, he was four years older than I was. Then we got in a WWE wrestling match, and he ended up giving up. And he never bothered you again. I don’t think.” Roger shared further that he would always leave school early to walk his sister home before everyone else left school.
This was the school’s way of protecting Amy from the ongoing bullying she faced. Roger said, “You were getting harassed, and they were afraid you would not get home safely.”
Amy’s father walked her down the aisle following her mother’s death
Matt and Amy had been together for 30 years before he decided to end their marriage. Although he never specified why he chose to divorce Amy after a long marriage, fans speculated that it might have had something to do with Caryn Chandler, with whom Matt had gotten closer in recent years.
While it took some time, Amy found love with her now-husband Chris Marek. The pair met at an event in 2016 and instantly hit it off. The mother of two confided in her friends at the time about her insecurities with dating a person of average height. However, Chris proved his love for her and popped the question in September 2019 after three years of dating.
As Entertainment Tonight reports, the wedding took place in Roloff Farms with 146 guests in attendance. With Amy’s mother having died in 2019 due to an illness, her father Gordon walked her down the aisle.
