According to Yahoo Lifestyle, Niall Horan recalled first meeting Lizzo. “I was in London doing a radio performance in the studio. She was coming in to do an interview in the studio as well, and someone said, ‘Oh, Lizzo’s here! She’d love to meet you.’”
He continued “So we’re passing in the corridor, I was like, ‘Ah! Lovely to meet you!’ Gave her a big hug. ‘Your voice is incredible. Your songs are amazing.”
He further complimented the singer, saying “You’re absolutely smashing it.’And literally, without missing a beat, she just went, ‘You can smash this!’” And I was just like, ‘Fair play’…I actually started blushing myself!”
Will this become a relationship?
Lizzo and Horan were spotted hugging each other on the red carpet on Dec. 13, 2019. Horan had a big smile on his face. Perhaps he was remembering their previous interaction.
If Lizzo does want to date Horan, she has a chance. According to Hollywood Life, the former One Direction member dated and broke up with Hailee Steinfeld, another famous pop musician. Possibly referring to the breakup, Horan said “There’s all these different sides to a breakup. It’s not all sad, all the time.”
He elaborated “When you break up with someone, it’s not just like, I’m sitting at a window. I’m looking out. I’m feeling sorry for myself. It’s raining against that window. Sometimes you’re like out on the town, throwing some shapes and you write songs like ‘Nice to Meet You!’”
Could this lead to a musical collaboration?
Even if Lizzo and Horan’s flirtation does not develop into a relationship, it could always lead to a musical collaboration. Lizzo’s music is primarily funk while Horan’s is more influenced by folk. However, they’re certainly open to working with other artists.
So far, Lizzo has released songs with Missy Elliott, Ariana Grande, and Charli XCX. In particular, her Charli XCX collaboration “Blame It on Your Love” shows she is willing to exit her genre comfort zone. Horan has also released a song with country pop singer Maren Morris. If there’s one thing Lizzo and Horan have in common, it’s a desire to traverse musical boundaries.
Lizzo’s flirtation with other celebrities
This is not the first time Lizzo flirted with a famous man. Elite Daily reports Lizzo once revealed she is attracted to President Barack Obama. The former president has not commented on this.
E! reports Lizzo also said she wanted to date a Hemsworth. She said she wouldn’t want to “[mess] with Miley’s man,” Liam Hemsworth, so she’d like to “find a Hemsworth cousin. I’m going to find the Hemsworth younger brother and see what’s up.”
Maybe Lizzo’s comments mean she’s going to pursue a celebrity for a romantic partner. Maybe she was just being funny and cute. Either way, she sure knows how to grab a headline.
