The Locke family and their magical keys will soon return to Netflix. Locke & Key Season 3 premieres this August, bringing another epic battle between humans and the demon world. Unfortunately, the new season will mark the show’s conclusion, so fans will have to say goodbye to the beloved characters. But there are plenty of other places to get a fantasy drama fix — here are some similar shows to check out after Locke & Key.

‘The Umbrella Academy’

Many Locke & Key fans fell in love with the series because of its source material: a comic book collection of the same name by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez. Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy has a similar origin story, as it’s based on the comics by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. The show follows a family of superheroes, all adopted, who hope to learn the truth about their father’s death. Meanwhile, they must put a stop to an apocalyptic threat.

Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Colm Feore, Ritu Arya, and Jordan Claire Robbins star in The Umbrella Academy. The Netflix show currently has two seasons, with a third arriving on June 22.

‘Fate: The Winx Saga’

Kid at a new school? Check. Teen drama? Check. Using magic against evil forces from another realm? Check. Fate: The Winx Saga is a great follow-up for fans of Locke & Key. The Netflix show takes inspiration from the animated Nickelodeon series Winx Club.

When Bloom (Abigail Cowen) discovers that she’s a fairy with fire powers, she enrolls at a magical boarding school called Alfea, located in the Otherworld. As Bloom learns more about herself and her powers, she and her classmates must fight against creatures known as the Burned Ones.

Fate: The Winx Saga stars Cowen, Hannah van der Westhuysen, Precious Mustapha, Eliot Salt, and Elisha Applebaum. A second season premieres this fall, although a release date has not been announced.

‘The Society’

Those who enjoy the mystery aspect of Locke & Key will want to check out a similar show called The Society on Netflix. The teen drama follows a group of high school students who return from a canceled field trip to find that everyone else in their town has disappeared. A fog has separated the town from the rest of the world, and it seems as though these teens are the only ones left. So, they must create their own society and find limited resources for survival.

The Society‘s main cast includes Kathryn Newton, Gideon Adlon, Sean Berdy, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Jacques Colimon, Olivia DeJonge, Alex Fitzalan, Kristine Froseth, Jose Julian, Alexander MacNicoll, Toby Wallace, and Rachel Keller. Netflix planned to film a second season, but it was canceled due to the pandemic.
