‘Love After Lockup’: True Admits He Regrets Breaking Up With Shonta [Sneak Peek]
Is True having second thoughts about breaking up with Shonta?
True and Shonta – who appear on We TV’s reality series Love After Lockup – dated for more than two years while he was behind bars. During their time together, she spent $40,000 on her inmate boyfriend and moved across state lines so that she could be closer to him, even though they’d never met in person. However, their relationship didn’t last long after his release from prison. Soon after getting out, True dumped Shonta. But in a clip from the show’s Sept. 6 episode, True wonders if he should have tried harder to make things work with his loyal girlfriend.
True from ‘Love After Lockup’ wants to get Shonta back
In the Love After Lockup sneak peek (via YouTube), True explains that he’s driven five hours to see Shonta. He’s hoping she’ll be willing to give him another chance.
“We’ve been through a lot, worked through a lot. I’m gonna go and get my girl back,” he says.
In an interview, the former inmate admits that he wasn’t eager to settle down after spending 13 years behind bars. But now that he and Shonta have spent several months apart, he’s realizing he might want a relationship after all.
“Last time I saw Shonta was three months ago,” he says. “We broke up, called off the engagement. I regret the breakup. I do. Because I was just getting out of prison, on my high of being out.”
True wants to be in his children’s life
One reason True is interested in patching things up with Shonta? She’s expecting twins, as she revealed in last week’s episode. He wants to be part of his children’s life.
“When Shonta told me she was pregnant, she said she didn’t want me to have nothing to do with the kids. It kinda hurt,” he says.
Now that he’s about to be a father, True is thinking back on the plans he and Shonta made while he was still in prison.
“I took culinary arts while I was in prison. My chef name as Chef Extra … the plan for me and Shonta was to open up a restaurant,” he says. “I was looking forward doing that … unfortunately, I didn’t even get to cook with her.
