‘Love & Hip Hop’ New Projects ‘It’s a Love Thing’ and ‘Family Reunion’ Confirmed by VH1
With the Love & Hip Hop having the reunion special series, Love & Hip Hop: Secrets Unlocked, airing this month, VH1 has confirmed two other spinoff series that will be airing before the main shows will return later on this year.
‘Love & Hip Hop: Secrets Unlocked’ began airing this month
Love & Hip Hop: Secrets Unlocked, a four-part, virtually-filmed reunion special, is the first time that the franchise has featured cast members from all four of the main series (Love & Hip Hop: New York, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood and Love & Hip Hop: Miami) together.
The official description from the network: For the first time in franchise history, iconic Love & Hip Hop cast members from all four cities will virtually unite to reflect on never-before-seen casting footage, behind-the-scenes secrets, messy entanglements, epic breakups and a look back at the most unforgettable trips and unresolved drama from New York, to Atlanta, down to Miami and Hollywood.
Kendall Kyndall is the special’s host and it “give[s] fans an exclusive look at Mendeecees’ reunion with Yandy Smith-Harris for the very first time since being released from prison. Additionally, Ray J and Princess Love appear together to discuss their current situation and Erica Mena and Safaree Samuels open up about their relationship woes.”
News of the other spinoffs surfaced late last year
Before being officially confirmed, Page Six said that other spinoffs were coming, including one that would revolve around couples.
Their report said that it. would see Ray J and Princess Love work out problems in their marriage. It is also said to feature Mendeecees Harris and Yandy Smith, Michael Blackson and Miss Yada, and Kirk and Rasheeda.
VH1 has now officially confirmed new projects, but Ray J and Princess Love are not a part of one of the couples themed one.
Here are the new projects
Titled Love & Hip Hop: It’s a Love Thing the network calls the one-hour special “a couples only, sexy date night” that is hosted by Chris and Vanessa Spencer. The cast includes Brooke Valentine and Marcus Black, Remy Ma and Papoose, Tami Roman and Reggie Youngblood, Yung Joc and Kendra Robinson. They will detail “how they first met and what makes their relationship tick.” It will also revisit the franchise’s “steamiest moments and most over-the-top weddings and proposals.” Perhaps this is not the one that Ray J and Princess Love were supposed to be a part of and that will come later on.
Nonetheless, the other confirmed spinoff is the six-part special, VH1 Family Reunion: Love & Hip Hop Edition. While cast members from all four main series in the franchise virtually gathered for the first time for Secrets Unlocked, this will be the first time that they have all gathered in person. VH1 says they will unite for “an outrageous action-packed gathering to celebrate #BlackJoy and resilience while creating new traditions.”
Apryl Jones, Bambi, Erica Dixon, Fizz, Joy Young, Judy Harris (Mendeecees’ mom), Karlie Redd, Momma Dee, Mendeecees, Ray J, Paris Phillips, Scrappy, Trick Daddy, Trina, Sierra Gates, Yandy Smith-Harris and Yung Joc will appear, with special appearances by activist Tamika D. Mallory and hip-hop artist and activist Mysonne.
