‘Love Is Blind’: Deepti ‘Blacked out’ When Seeing Shake for the First Time
Love is Blind has every couple see each other for the first time after they’ve already fallen in love. Deepti Vempati explained why she didn’t get a good look at Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee when they met.
Deepti and Shake’s first moment physically together on ‘Love Is Blind’
Deepti and Shake realized they had a lot in common in the pods. There were times Shake asked offensive questions, but he seemed apologetic once Deepti talked to him about it. They talked about possibly getting married one day, and Deepti said she didn’t want to touch her husband’s feet at the ceremony. Shake proposed, and they got to see each other for the first time.
Shake immediately kissed her and told her she was beautiful. He kept kissing her face and grabbed her butt. He then got down on the ground and touched her feet, making her happy.
It seemed like Shake’s worry about attraction was gone. But in Mexico, he talked about not feeling attracted to her. Deepti reveals how she looks back at their first moment being in the same room with each other.
Deepti ‘blacked out’ when she met Shake
Some fans had hope for Deepti and Shake once they saw each other. Deepti gave her reaction to the moment.
“Honestly, that moment is unmatched, just the emotion and just the adrenaline that you’re going through. There’s so many people watching you,” Deepti said on the We Have The Recepts podcast. “It’s one of the top feelings. No matter what has happened with me and him, that moment was just amazing. He came at me like a little puppy dog. I was like, ‘Oh! OK!’”
“But no, he made me feel really comfortable in that situation, and when he touched my feet, I thought it was so beautiful,” she continued. “It was like sweet. I wish he didn’t grab my a** because my grandpa watched it. That was tough. It was playful.”
The hosts asked what she thought of Shake’s appearance after the initial meeting. “Honestly, I blacked out,” she answered. “I blacked out.” She said it was an out-of-body experience, and he was so close to her face that she couldn’t see him. “I remember asking my producer, ‘Is he cute? I don’t remember,’” she said. But then Deepti said she found him attractive.
They now have different views on the show
Vanessa and Nick Lachey confronted Shake at the reunion about how he approached the experiment. Vanessa said he probably should have gone on a different show because he was so focused on his partner’s looks.
Shake pushed back on this at first. But then he admitted “love is blurry” to him. Deepti said she didn’t care that Shake wasn’t attracted to her, but she was offended by how he talked about her behind her back. The former couple is no longer friends, and they’re both single.
