‘Love Is Blind’ Hosts Vanessa Lachey and Nick Lachey Call Out the Contestants Who Lied to Each Other
Love Is Blind became a phenomenon on Netflix, causing some people to subscribe just for the show. Fans have followed the couples who met on the show to see if their love connection continued after their on air proposals. Vanessa Lachey and Nick Lachey, married themselves and no strangers to televised relationships, hosted the show.
The Lacheys stopped by The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday, March 12. The singer and host asked the couple about the phenomenon of Love Is Blind. The Lacheys revealed they caught some of their contestants in lies.
Nick and Vanessa Lachey were worried ‘Love Is Blind’ wouldn’t work
On Love is Blind, contestants stay in an isolated pod while they communicate with contestants in other pods. They conduct their entire relationships without ever seeing each other. The hope is that they will bond over who they are, without any superficial considerations. In fact, the only way to see what they look like is to ask them to marry you!
“You have to propose to someone sight unseen and accept their proposal without ever having seen them,” Nick Lachey explained. “Only after you accept do you finally see the person you’ve been talking to for hours and hours and hours.”
Vanessa was worried nobody would make the commitment without seeing their partner.
“Nobody was forced to propose,” Vanessa Lachey said. “After week one, we’re like if nobody proposes, then we have to figure out what the show is. Then the social experiment would be nobody found love without seeing each other physically. Well, we got plenty of proposals.”
Nick Lachey believed in ‘Love Is Blind’
Nick and Vanessa Lachey did see each other before they got married, as they saw all their previous partners too. However, Nick Lachey believed in the concept of Love Is Blind.
“You get away from other people in your ear, like ‘What do you see in her? Why are you talking to her?’” Nick Lachey said. “Your friends or your family. It’s all about the connection between you and the person on the other side of that wall. And the connections they formed were like crazy strong. Within two days, grown men weeping.”
Vanessa Lachey called out ‘Love Is Blind’ liars
Vanessa Lachey spoke with the contestants and found that some of the men weren’t using the honor system when asked to describe themselves. She wouldn’t name names, so see if you can figure out who she’s talking about.
“Some of them I’m like, ‘Did he describe himself to you?’” Vanessa Lachey said. “Because we knew what both sexes looked like. She’s like, ‘Yeah, he said he looked like So and So’ and I was like, ‘Hmm.’”
Even when couples were surprise, they gave it a chance
Eventually, the Love Is Blind couples did meet, so that contestant would find out if her partner did not look like who he said he did. Vanessa Lachey said even when contestants were surprised, they went with the show.
“Honestly, people fell so in love so quick that when they did see each other, they’re like, ‘It’s even better than I thought,’” she said. “There were a couple that they’re like, ‘Okay, okay, okay, we’ll just try this.’ Then they hug and they’re like, ‘okay, okay, okay.’”
