‘Love Is Blind’: Shayne Asked to Cancel His Wedding With Natalie but ‘You Have to Go to the Altar’
Love Is Blind Season 2 always ends with multiple weddings. Shayne Jansen revealed he wanted to back out of his and gave a reason for why he looked so wired at the ceremony.
Shayne Jansen almost got married to Natalie Lee
Love Is Blind Season 2 showed new people falling in love, then deciding to get married. Shayne connected with Natalie Lee in the pods. He proposed to her, and for most of the season, they seemed determined to say I do.
However, that changed in the very last episode. The couple revealed they fought the night before their wedding away from cameras. Natalie said she was so hurt by Shayne’s words that she was reconsidering their relationship.
At the altar, she decided she couldn’t marry him. But later, she told Shayne that she wanted them to work on their relationship. He wasn’t receptive at the time because her rejection hurt him.
Shayne tried to back out of the wedding the night before
Shayne talked about his experience on The Viall Files. He told Nick Viall that he was in a terrible spot on his wedding day for multiple reasons.
“My wedding day where I looked like I was coked out of my mind, I didn’t sleep for two days straight because I had no idea what she was going to say at the altar, no idea,” he said. “My mom was in town. My whole family was in town. I was so embarrassed that my anxiety was going crazy.”
Viall asked why he was embarrassed, and he said because you have to go to the altar. Viall pushed back on this and asked if Shayne really felt like skipping out on the day.
“Oh yeah, the night before, the night before, I hit up the producers and what not,” the reality star claimed. “‘I can’t do this. I don’t want to go.’ But we have to see it through.” He was then asked what would happen if he ran. “I’d have a fat lawsuit on my hands,” he said.”I don’t know. I didn’t know what to do at the time.”
Shayne said he was so mentally exhausted at that point that he decided to push through it. His claim of not knowing what Natalie was going to say goes against what she previously said.
Natalie told Shayne she was going to dump him
Fans didn’t get to see this, but Natalie told Shayne her final decision before going to the altar. She told Los Angeles Times that she gave him a “heads-up” that she would say “no.”
She believed Shayne’s reaction to her rejection was real. “But I was very transparent; it was going to be a no,” she said.
Shayne and Natalie are no longer together. But it looks like Shayne is now ready to talk about his experience on the Netflix show.
