‘Love Is Blind’: Why Deepti Didn’t Pick Kyle

It’s easy for Love is Blind fans to forget the entire cast dated each other in the pods. Deepti Vempati was close to picking Kyle Abrams and revealed why she chose someone else.

Kyle proposed to Shaina on ‘Love Is Blind’

Kyle had a connection with Shaina Hurley in the pods. But they realized at the end that they had very different views on religion and evolution. Kyle still wanted them to move forward, while Shaina was hesitant.

He proposed to her with his mother’s ring. Shaina accepted, but once they were in Mexico, she left. They talked once again after that but broke up for good.

Meanwhile, Deepti got engaged to Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee. She seemed hopeful about their relationship, but Shake kept telling everyone that he wasn’t attracted to her. In the end, she decided not to get married to him.

Deepti didn’t pick Kyle because Shake seemed more stable

Deepti addressed her connection with Kyle after the season aired. She revealed why she didn’t pick him.

“It’s funny they don’t show any of this, but actually Kyle was my number two person in the pods, and I was really struggling between the two,” Deepti said on the We Have the Receipts podcast. “I could envision this life with Shake. I could kinda see the future there.” 

“With Kyle, it would just be so spontaneous, adventurous, and fun,” she continued. “But like I didn’t know where exactly where it would go. And so I picked the stable route, I guess, and he was feeling obviously Shaina [Hurley] and Caitlin, I believe. He told me he was like, ‘You’re into Shake, so the only way I’d ever marry you is if you asked me.’”

She said they talked about being equals and gender roles at that moment. Deepti still hangs out with Kyle but is still seeing where it goes. 

Kyle regrets not proposing to Deepti on ‘Love Is Blind’

The reunion revealed some things fans didn’t get to see during the season. That includes Kyle and Deepti’s relationship. However, he did voice his regret.

“It was just a huge waste of time. But I have a huge regret. The biggest regret is I should have…I should have asked Deepti to marry me. That’s what I learned the most. I f*cked up.”

Deepti smiled at this, and even Shaina agreed. “I should have tried harder for you,” he told her.

Deepti and Kyle have hung out after the show and left some flirty comments for each other on Instagram. Fans will have to wait and see if they’ll give their relationship another shot.
