Going through a split while filming a reality television show is difficult and Martell and Melody Holt of Love & Marriage: Huntsville have had a less than amicable divorce. Martell accuses Melody of keeping their four children away from him
Melody and Martell’s divorce was finalized in 2021. As part of their custody agreement, the couple are supposed to split time evenly between their children. According to Melody, the former couple have a two week on, two week off agreement, meaning they each have the children two consecutive weeks out of the month. Martell took to social media to allege that Melody kept his children away from him for nearly two months.
“I honestly can’t come up with anything that matters more to me than my children. My life has been a public viewing for years now, pretty uncomfortable,” he wrote, BOSSIP reports. “I am a REAL father who loves his children. I noticed that many wondered why I hadn’t posted or shared the important dates recently. It’s because my ex, Melody Shari Rodgers yet again attempting to create a storyline for the show.”
Once he was reunited with his children, he said they were overcome with emotion. “My kids cried when they saw me talking about how much they missed me and wanted to see me and talk to me,” he wrote. “It hurt me to share with them on how much I missed them. This TV show is what you desire to believe but this picture is really my real life. My everything is right here. They are what matter to me more than anything.”
This isn’t the first time Martell has accused Melody of withholding their children
Co-parenting has not been easy for Melody and Martell. Melody first filed for divorce in May 2020. She says she left their marital home the previous month after discovering Martell was still involved with his longtime mistress.
Amid the split, Martell alleged on social media that he had not seen his children since Melody left. He also claimed she moved to Atlanta.
“Melody left the house with my kids, because I told her I wanted a divorce. She blocked me from calling or texting my children and her mom Vanessa Tracy blocked me as well,” he alleged on Instagram. “She’s too busy listening to y’all on FB and IG allowing her NOT to properly get over our issues that occurred months ago,” he continued – referring to the constant messages Melody gets regarding her marriage and Martell’s cheating.
Their split has been contentious from the start
Aside from allegations of cheating, Melody has accused Martell of being emotionally and verbally abusive, manipulating, and belittling her as a mother. At one point, Martell even refused to sign the divorce papers.
In their divorce settlement, neither were awarded alimony or child support. Additionally, their joint businesses were dissolved.
