The discovery+ dating show Love Off the Grid boasted a fascinating cast of single hermits paired with love interests living more traditional lives. One of the reality show’s most memorable couples, Josh and Angela, formed a strong bond despite their nearly 30-year age gap. However, when the cameras finished rolling, the sparks stopped flying.

During Love Off the Grid‘s finale Tell-All episode, Josh revealed that he quickly married another woman from his past after the show.

Josh and Angela moved in together on ‘Love Off the Grid’

Love Off the Grid is not your typical dating show. While other reality shows focus on the competition as they visit exotic locations with a mansion by the beach, the discovery+ series focuses on a more extreme angle. On Love Off the Grid, the cast is trying to live in isolated areas of the country. And the results are more akin to a fish out of water than a bachelor in paradise

Angela has spent the better part of the last two decades living in complete isolation in Yucca, Arizona. The 56-year-old steers clear of the “grid” by living off the land, fending for herself, and limiting her communication with the outside world. Josh, 27, grew up in civilization and wanted to try something different than the city dating scene.

The couple had remarkable chemistry. While the age gap concerned some viewers, their love on camera, however brief it was, seemed built on genuine affection. They survived the desert elements, bonded over their unique experience, and realized they weren’t so different after all.

However, as the show ended, Josh realized this lifestyle was not for him. Just months after discovery+ stopped filming, fans learned he got married to a past fling.

When it was all said and done, Josh wasn’t ready to adjust to Angela’s desert lifestyle that lacked modern amenities. When he returned home, he called up his ex and asked if she would give it another try. They appeared together on the Love Off the Grid aftershow where Josh told the story with a smile.

“When I got back home from the desert, got to get settled back … A week or so later, I rekindled a relationship with a girl that I have a long relationship with for a while — it just spiraled into this marriage. We got married, and we’re here now, and it’s a beautiful thing,” he said as his new wife sat down next to him.

The idea behind living off the grid was an easier pill to swallow than the act, and it made him cherish a relationship he already had. Victoria broke down the unusual way Josh asked for her hand in marriage

“He proposed to me literally while he was on the toilet. [laughs] I was in the shower, and he was sitting on the toilet, and he’s like, ‘We should go get married.’ And I was like, ‘You know what? That’s a good idea.’ And so we did,” she said of his proposal.

Josh is an unusual character. It makes the whole ordeal make more sense. The show offered an intriguing look inside the reality dating scene, but Josh wants everyone to know he still loves Angela as a person.

Despite the uneasy break-up with Angela, Josh affirmed his hopes that she finds the right person. A previously unseen clip showed Josh uneasily committing to life off the grid, but the look in his eyes showed uncertainty. In the end, Josh is happy with his decision and speaks highly of Angela. However, he fears her demanding lifestyle might lead to a similar outcome every time she tries to find love.

“I really hope Angela finds what she’s looking for. She’s a strong-willed, independent woman but I think she puts a persona out there more than what she wants to be. I think she does really want to be nurtured and cared for. And I hope our experiences helps her figure out what she really is looking for,” he said.

Since the show, Angela has continued her desert lifestyle. However, the series might’ve shown the cracks inside her desire for love in isolation. Whether she finds it, Love Off the Grid showed the complicated mindset that goes into choosing such an isolated life.
