The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has Little People, Big World fans wondering what’s happening with Roloff Farms pumpkin season. The farm is open every fall for fans to come and meet their favorite stars of the show. But Matt Roloff explained it might not happen in 2020 due to the pandemic guidelines.

Now, it looks like Matt, Zach Roloff, and the rest of the Roloff family are preparing to open the farm up for business. And he mentioned he has another surprise in store for October.

Fans adore pumpkin season, and it’s also a major source of income for the Roloffs. And Matt wasn’t sure he’d be able to open the farm for business at all due to the pandemic. Matt took to Instagram to answer some fans who sounded hopeful that they’d get to visit the farm during fall 2020.

“Hopefully we can open,” Matt told a fan who said they were looking forward to seeing the Roloff family. “Just heard our governor @oregongovbrown say things that don’t sound promising for events such as ours. No fairs or large events. We run on a tight margin so we would have to double our prices to meet all the restrictions.”

He then added a video to Instagram on July 11 detailing a possible plan. “We are in daily dissertation meetings about that and what would it look … and really, really scratching our heads to figure out how would that work,” he explained. “We’re coming up with all kinds of alternative plans. It all comes up very expensive.”

Matt recently announced that pumpkin season is officially on

It looks like Matt and the crew were able to figure out what the 2020 pumpkin season will look like. He posted a video to IGTV on Sept. 17 announcing that Roloff Farms will officially be open for business.

“We’ve got a big announcement,” Matt stated. “The family has been scratching our heads. We’ve been beating ourselves up meeting after meeting talking about this, you know, COVID and the Roloff Farm pumpkin patch. So, we have finally, finally — and I’m here to tell you — come to a definitive conclusion about what we’re gonna do.”

Matt then explained that Roloff Farms will open, but plenty of new guidelines and restrictions will be in place. “We’re gonna give everybody access to a walking trail,” Matt explained — and it also gives fans access to a part of the farm they usually don’t venture into. In order to attend, reservations are required ahead of time.

It looks like Matt has yet another exciting announcement for Roloff Farms. He posted a video to Instagram on Sept. 22 showing him surrounded by a sea of fog.

“One of the things Roloff Farms does during our October pumpkin festival is to put a little fog machine out there,” Matt explained in the video. “Fog, it’s a harmless substance, but it hides things. Not too scary, not too less scary. But anyway, this year, we have a brand new fog machine, and we have a brand new secret that we’re gonna hide in the fog. So, hopefully, people will be able to find our scary stuff in the fog.”

Matt then reminded fans the farm’s opening up on Oct. 2, so those who want to attend pumpkin season must have reservations. As for what’s hiding in the fog — we’re not yet sure. But fans seem ultra-excited to find out, as many took to the comments to say they can’t wait to reserve their spot.

“I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful pumpkin season despite this pandemic!” one fan commented encouragingly.
