Luke Combs’ Wife Nicole Said She ‘Wants a Big Family’ As the Two Prepare to Welcome First Child
Country music star Luke Combs infamously pulled inspiration from his wife and muse, Nicole Hocking Combs, to write several hit singles. Songs like “Beautiful Crazy,” “Better Together,” and “Forever After All” have soared on country music charts The crooner’s lyrics about creating a life with the person he loves resonate with fans.
As the couple prepares to welcome their first child together, it could serve as the material for the next chapter in Combs’ life. And if Hocking’s previous thoughts about their family come true, Combs could write about raising quite the brood.
Nicole Combs hoped for a big family before becoming pregnant
In January 2021, Hocking hosted an Instagram Q&A while traveling to Florida. Followers asked everything from how she’s involved with her husband’s work (she helps with his line of women’s merch) to if the couple will ever sing a duet. “Trust me on this, you don’t want that,” she answered, per Music Mayhem. “I only bless my shampoo bottles & steering wheel with my voice.”
Another follower asked if she and Combs planned to have children. “Yess hopefully! I want a big family,” Hocking replied. Hocking might not have followed up on any duets with her songwriting husband. But roughly a year later, the couple announced that Hocking was pregnant with their first child.
Luke and Nicole Combs announced her pregnancy in January
Combs and Hocking both took to social media to share the news that their family is expanding on January 20. “Here we go y’all! Little dude Combs is coming this Spring!” Combs announced on Twitter. “Couldn’t be more excited to start a family with this babe. It’s gonna be a hell of a ride,” he added.
Hocking announced the happy news on Instagram showcasing her baby bump and a sonogram photo. “This may be the best year yet,” she wrote. “Baby BOY combs coming spring 2022!! we are so incredibly excited & thankful.” She later shared black and white photos sporting her bump in a casual pair of jeans, Combs at her side.
The couple hasn’t shared an exact due date. But as of April 6, 2022, Hocking was still rocking her pregnancy.
Luke Combs wants to be an involved dad
In interviews this spring, Combs said he’s preparing for being a dad by learning a baby-centric vocabulary — “bassinet” was new to him — and stocking up on armloads of baby clothes he didn’t know existed.
He’s also said he wants to be involved as a father, not just a performer his kids see on the TV. “Family is important to me. I’d like to be the guy throwing the football to them,” Taste of Country reports.
In preparation for their first child’s arrival, Combs has taken on the role of supportive partner for Hocking, evidenced by his heartfelt posts on social media. On Valentine’s Day, he wrote he counts every day as a “blessing” to get to be with her. “I can’t wait to raise our family with you and spend a whole lot of more years together. I Love You @nicolejcombs.”
Hocking shared her own sentimental post for the holiday, adding, “I can’t wait to raise a lil wild boy with you.” Combs responded in the comments with the necessary parental confidence: “We’re gonna be kicka** parents babe! I love you more.”
