Maisie Williams Wants to Play Another Rock Icon After ‘Pistol’
Maisie Williams, best known for her role as Arya Stark in the iconic series Game of Thrones, became a star when she was just a teenager. These days, as a young adult, Williams is working harder than ever, portraying punk icon Pamela “Jordan” Rooke in an all-new miniseries, Pistol. Recently, Williams opened up to Wired about her “dream” role, which would involve Williams playing another music star.

The miniseries Pistol recently premiered on FX. It focuses on the iconic group, the Sex Pistols, primarily the group’s guitarist, Steve Jones. It details their rise to fame as musicians and highlights some memorable interactions the Sex Pistols had with other prominent figures in the punk rock scene in the ’70s. Maisie Williams plays Pamela Rooke, better known as “Jordan,” a fashion icon and close associate of the Sex Pistols.
The role was something entirely new for Williams. As she recently told Variety, she was initially slightly unsure of herself. “I was quite intimidated, really,” Williams said, discussing the first time Pistol viewers meet Jordan when the fashionable woman takes public transportation wearing a see-through outfit. “But I don’t think that that’s anything new to her. But I think that she’s just undeniably herself. When you are in the presence of someone who is so confident and calm it’s rare. And that can be overwhelming.”
What did Maisie Williams say about her ‘dream role’?
With Williams making waves in Pistol, it’s no surprise that the star has set her sights on some roles involving icons from history. In a recent interview with Wired, Williams admitted that there’s one person she would love to portray onscreen. “I’d love to play Kate Bush,” Williams said, responding to a question about her “dream role.” “Honestly, anything. I’d like to do a lot of things. But Kate Bush would be fun. I think that she’s really interesting. I think she’s got a really interesting story as well.”
Williams went on to muse, “But it’s quite like, it’s a bit arrogant to be like, I wanna play Kate Bush because who knows if I should play Kate Bush. But if the opportunity arises and I did a good enough audition, then I’d love to play Kate Bush.”
What other series is Williams set to star in?
Playing Kate Bush isn’t on the docket just yet. But the young actor is on a roll with portraying historical figures. After Pistol, Williams can be seen in another miniseries titled The New Look, which should air on Apple TV+ sometime in late 2022 or early 2023. Williams portrays Catherine Dior in The New Look, the younger sister of famed fashion designer Christian Dior.
In her Wired interview, Williams gave an intriguing sneak peek at the upcoming series. She said she is having a “good time” filming the series in Paris and that she considers Catherine Dior an “incredible woman.” From Arya Stark to Catherine Dior, Williams’ career trajectory has been impressive so far. And her future is looking brighter than ever.
