‘Majora’s Mask’ for Nintendo Switch Online Release Date and Price Revealed
When Nintendo announced The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask release date for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass, fans had an idea of the price they could expect to pay for Young Link’s adventure in Termina. The Legend of Zelda series met with a terrible fate after the Nintendo Direct failed to reveal any new info about Breath of the Wild 2. However, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD and the newly announced fan-favorite Nintendo 64 title Majora’s Mask game might hold players over until BOTW 2 releases.
What is ‘The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask’ release date for Nintendo Switch Online?
Nintendo set The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask release date for February 25, 2022. The official Nintendo Twitter announced the game for Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass members.
The game features Young Link saving the land of Termina from Majora and the moon destroying everything. However, Link only has three days to stop the disaster, with each dawn starting with a foreboding message of how much time remained. Fans liked this darker tone, leading to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess following suit years later.
When 24 hours remain, ‘Dawn of the Final Day’ appears, warning players how little time they had left. Fans can likely expect to see plenty of ‘Dawn of the Final Day’ memes the night before the Switch release.
However, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch OLED users also need to know the price for The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.
What is ‘The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask’ Nintendo Switch price?
While they confirmed Majora’s Mask for Nintendo Switch, it will not get a physical release like The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D. It will be available digitally through the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass.
“The Expansion Pack is an enhanced version of the Nintendo Switch Online membership priced at $49.99 for a year, which includes access to Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis games on top of the NES and SNES catalogs that come with the standard $19.99 yearly service,” Zelda Universe reported.
Unfortunately, the only way for Nintendo Switch owners to play Majora’s Mask is through a subscription service.
The N64 game has a much dark adventure of Link
While Link usually rescued Princess Zelda from Ganon, Majora’s Mask sent Young Link into Termina, a twisted version of Hyrule. An individual known only as the Happy Mask Salesman tells Link about a powerful and malevolent mask stolen from him by the Skull Kid.
Young Link plays the Song of Time from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time which keeps him locked in a three-day loop until he saves Termina from its terrible fate.
The game features heavy themes around death, loss, and grief. Link stands by as the Zora Mikau dies speaking his last words. He visits the grave of a Goron spirit filled with regret. It stands as one of the darkest Legend of Zelda games.
However, many fans love this more intense take on the Nintendo series and cannot wait to revisit Termina again.
