McDonald’s is releasing the BTS Meal during May 2021

They light up the music charts, and now they’re lighting up the McDonald’s menu. BTS announced their collaboration with the fast-food chain, bringing their favorite menu items to fans in almost 50 countries.

“BTS truly lights up the world stage, uniting people across the globe through their music,” Morgan Flatley, chief marketing officer of McDonald’s USA, said in a statement. “We’re excited to bring customers even closer to their beloved band in a way only McDonald’s can — through our delicious food — when we introduce the BTS signature order on our menu next month.”

This is the K-pop group’s first time collaborating with McDonald’s. And it’s the first celebrity order that will be available to customers around the world.

The BTS McDonald’s meal includes a 10- or nine-piece Chicken McNuggets (depending on the market), a medium World Famous Fries, a medium drink, and two dipping sauces.

The BTS Meal introduces 2 new McDonald’s dipping sauces to the United States

McDonald’s typically alters its menu depending on a restaurant’s location. According to Love Food, Thailand is home to the Corn Pie, which comes in a McDonald’s signature apple pie shell. For some time, this menu item was also available in South Korean locations.

South Korea-based McDonald’s restaurants also have the Bulgogi Burger — a pork patty covered in bulgogi sauce with lettuce and mayo. There’s also an option to add an egg to the sandwich. And there are dipping sauces that vary based on restaurant location.

What makes the BTS McDonald’s meal so special is that for the first time in the United States two new dipping sauces will be available, inspired by the flavors of South Korea. They are the Cajun and Sweet Chili sauces.

There’s also BTS content in conjunction with the BTS McDonald’s meal

What makes this collaboration special for BTS fans is the content released on McDonald’s social media in conjunction with the meal. The release schedule includes new concept pictures of the members and even a Behind the Sauce: Making of Film.

This isn’t BTS’ first brand deal, as the K-pop group has collaborated with Samsung, Starbucks, FILA, and The Coca-Cola Company, creating their own products in the process. Recently, the artists became brand ambassadors for the fashion house Louis Vuitton.

The group also collaborates with other artists, including Halsey, Sia, and Nicki Minaj.
