Mama June Shannon’s Family is Afraid She’s Going to Die, Stage a Dramatic Intervention as Her Health Deteriorates

June Shannon, better known as Mama June, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s mother, seems to be headed for a downward spiral. In a recent clip of an upcoming episode for the reality show Mama June: From Hot to Not, we see Mama June’s family try to convince her she has a problem with addiction. Here’s what we know after seeing the shocking preview for an upcoming episode.    

Mama June’s family is worried about her declining health

In the clip for the reality show, which was posted by TMZ, Dr. Ish Major and Mama June’s family asked her to make some changes in her life. They staged the intervention in her sister’s home. The cameras capture the shocking state of Mama June’s health. In one scene, you can see that her teeth are rotting.

Honey Boo Boo’s relationship with Mama June is on the rocks

In the clip for Mama June’s reality show, we see Alana (Honey Boo Boo) plead with her mother to get help. Alana tried to help her mother see how much the situation was affecting her by emphasizing the fact that she had to move in with her sister (who goes by the nickname Pumpkin). “Do you not understand that I am staying with my sister? asks Alana. “And that’s not by choice,” she continues. Mama June snaps back, saying Alana did move by choice, but her daughter strongly disagrees.    

What led Mama June’s family to stage an intervention

Mama June appears to have a severe drug addiction. She has also run into trouble with the law. Her family stepped in after her recent drug possession arrest (she was caught with crack cocaine) and because of her declining health. The family also seems to be concerned about her relationship with her boyfriend, Geno Doak. However, it doesn’t look like Mama June is receptive to her family’s efforts. In the preview, she appears angry and walks away from the house. That’s when cameras show her collapse, likely from a combination of poor health choices and the stress of the situation. 

Mama June’s family is afraid her recklessness could end in death   

Mama June’s family fear for her life. During the clip, her eldest daughter says she’s afraid that if the intervention doesn’t work, there could be a deadly consequence. “If this intervention doesn’t work, she’s either gonna end up in jail, or she’s gonna die,” she said.
