Marcus Jordan’s Latest Arrest Isn’t His First — Inside His 2012 Legal Trouble
In the early hours of Tuesday, February 4, Marcus Jordan was arrested and booked into a Florida jail regarding charges of DUI, cocaine possession, and resisting arrest. As supporters of the son of NBA legend Michael Jordan piece together what happened, it’s important to note that this isn’t the first time Marcus has resisted arrest and found himself facing unsavory charges.
Marcus Jordan’s February 4 arrest
Two officers allegedly found Marcus Jordan parked on train tracks outside of Maitland, Florida, according to People. The 34-year-old fled a traffic stop before parking his Lamborghini SUV and allowing the police to apprehend him. The officers noted his “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and confusion “about where he was located.”
Marcus allegedly told the officers that he’d ended his evening at Rachel’s Gentlemen’s Club, a “luxurious Adult Entertainment Complex and award-winning 5-Star Restaurant,” according to its website. He said he drank “some” alcoholic beverages before making a “wrong turn” on his way home. Officers noted that Marcus’s Lamborghini tires “spun repeatedly” when they apprehended him, and “the tires were halfway buried in the dirt/rocks on the tracks.”
Marcus reportedly failed to complete any field sobriety tests at the scene. He then refused to enter the police car, becoming “agitated and irritated” before officers discovered a bag of cocaine in his pocket. Marcus sang “all the way” to the Orange County DUI Center, causing the vehicle to smell “strongly like an alcoholic beverage.”
Marcus Jordan’s 2012 arrest also involved alcohol
Longtime supporters of Michael Jordan and his five children can’t help but recall that Marcus has resisted arrest before. From 2009 to 2012, Marcus Jordan played college basketball for the University of Central Florida. The shooting guard played for three seasons before exiting the team after his junior year. The conclusion of his basketball career coincided with his 2012 arrest outside of an Omaha, Nebraska, hotel.
As Yahoo reports, Marcus was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and obstructing in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 2, 2012. Police found the young man “very animated, intoxicated and uncooperative” as he heatedly argued with two women outside of an Embassy Suites. What was the Central Florida guard doing so far from Orlando? Marcus planned to cheer on his high school friend, Conor Dwyer, at the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials occurring in Omaha. Instead, Michael Jordan’s second-oldest child spent several hours at Douglas County Correctional Center.
After his 2012 arrest, Marcus Jordan forwent college basketball. He graduated from UCF and founded Trophy Room, a high-end sneaker boutique inspired by his dad’s legacy. The store first opened in Orlando’s Walt Disney World Resort in 2016. Later, Marcus transitioned the store to online retail, collaborating with companies like Nike and the Jordan Brand.
In addition to running Trophy Room, Marcus has gained public attention for his relationship with Larsa Pippen, the ex-wife of Scottie Pippen.
