Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez have seemingly never gotten along. The two singers made headlines for their alleged feud as early as the 1990s. Lopez’s rocky summer, with the cancellation of her tour and end of her marriage, reportedly has not softened Carey toward her. Instead, a source said Carey thinks karma is bringing Lopez what she deserves.

Mariah Carey allegedly thinks Jennifer Lopez is dealing with karma

One month before Lopez was supposed to begin her This Is Me … Live tour, she announced that she was canceling it. Later this summer, Lopez filed for divorce after two years of marriage to Ben Affleck.

As this was happening, Carey announced more dates for her 2025 Las Vegas residency. A source claimed that Lopez’s canceled tour made her more excited about her residency.

“Mariah is really excited to be getting back to Vegas and looking forward to proving she’s still at the top of the game when it comes to putting on a show and bringing in ticket sales,” the source told In Touch. “She’s extra excited to show that she’s still got it after J. Lo had to go and cancel her concert tour.”

The source went on to say that Carey was taking “a lot of pleasure in seeing [Lopez] fall on her face.”

“She believes it’s karma biting her in the butt because she’s not as talented as she thinks and way too arrogant,” the source claimed. “For J. Lo it’s a huge big kick in the teeth to Mariah making all these huge concert plans, especially because she knows how much she’s been trash talking her and laughing about her divorce to boot.”

Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez have reportedly feuded for years

This comes after years of feuding between Carey and Lopez. In 1999, when asked about the alleged feud, Carey said Lopez didn’t threaten her.

“She’s a dancer, isn’t she?” Carey asked, per Yahoo! Entertainment. “She lip-synched Selena’s vocals [in the 1997 film Selena], you know. I don’t think that as a singer, we’re in the same category as artists.”

Several years later, when asked about Lopez again, Carey famously shook her head and said, “I don’t know her.”

In 2014, Lopez said she doesn’t harbor any bad feelings about Carey.

“I don’t have a feud against her at all. I know from back in the day, I’ve read things that she’s said about me that were not the greatest, but we have never met. Like, we don’t know each other. I think it’s kind of from word of mouth of things that have happened in the past that I’m not really aware of,” she told Andy Cohen, adding, “I would love to meet her, and I would love to be friends with her. I think she’s incredibly talented, and I’ve always been a fan of hers.”

Jennifer Lopez said it broke her heart to cancel her tour

For Lopez, the decision to cancel her tour was not an easy one.

“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” she said in a statement to her fans, per Variety. “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again.”

Some reports said the cancellation was the result of poor ticket sales, while others said Lopez wanted to take time to focus on her marriage to Affleck.
