Mariah Carey Surprises Customers and Staff at Fast Food Restaurant for Christmas
Christmas is over but Mariah Carey celebrates early into the New Year. She has a lot to be thankful for, including her classic “All I Want For Christmas Is You” making history, and a new Christmas single. The singer was in a giving mood this year, so much so that she surprised fans at a McDonald’s restaurant to brighten their holiday spirits.

The “Fall In Love at Christmas” singer made the holiday extra special for employees and customers at a Colorado McDonald’s chain. Carey spent Christmas in Aspen, Colorado with her twins and boyfriend. It’s a special trip they take every year. But this year she added in an extra activity by stopping by McDonald’s to celebrate her partnership with the popular restaurant.
The “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer recently surprised fans, sending them into a frenzy for those who were in the store. She wanted to get an up-close and personal look at her curated menu and shared a clip of her in the store with her Instagram followers.
“We took an unexpected jaunt to McDonald’s to see the Mariah Menu,” she captioned the post in part. Her 11-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, and her boyfriend Bryan Tanaka accompanied her on the trip to the store. “It was classic,” she continued in the caption, tagging McDonald’s.
Carey’s 11-year-old daughter Monroe requested a beanie, t-shirt, and a Big Mac from the menu in a New York accent as a joke while going speaking to employees through a speaker at the drive-thru. The singer laughed in the background as Monroe continued with the prank.
In the video, Monroe wore a Black McDonald’s beanie hat. Carey is decked out in a sparkly red gown and Prada gloves for the occasion. They then go into the McDonald’s to make their order to the surprise of everyone in the store, who film and photograph the singer.
Mariah Carey’s special holiday menu at McDonald’s
Carey partnered with McDonald’s, a childhood favorite restaurant of hers, for a special menu inspired by the iconic “12 Days of Christmas” song. The “12 Days of Deals,” aka the Mariah Menu, ran from Dec. 13 through Christmas Eve. The promotional menu came with specialty packaging and free menu items for customers who make just a minimum purchase of $1.
Carey spoke of her excitement for the partnership ahead of its launch. Some of the free menu choices included a Big Mac, a six-piece Chicken McNuggets, or the singer’s personal favorite, a cheeseburger.
“Some of my favorite memories with my kids are our family trips to McDonald’s, and of course, each of us has our go-to order. Mine is the Cheeseburger, and I get it with extra pickles,” Carey said in a statement. “Bringing together some of our favorite food from McDonald’s with my all-time favorite season is a holiday wish come true.”
Carey said that as a young child, getting McDonald’s was a treat. She grew up in a family with little means and not much room for financial flexibility. Carey said the McDonald’s partnership was a dream come true. The executives at McDonald’s said the deal made the most sense to partner with Carey as she’s the epitome of Christmas.
