New episodes of Married at First Sight: Australia premiere Wednesday, March 30 at 10:30 p.m. ET on Lifetime. The ninth season follows 22 singles who are matched by three experts: John Aiken, Mel Schilling, and Alessandra Rampolla. It follows all 11 couples from the altar through their honeymoons and then their time living together under the same roof as a married couple.
While the basic format of MAFS: Australia is the same as the American version of the show, there are a few key differences. For one, the show features more than twice the number of couples, which means twice the potential for juicy drama. Plus, the weddings shown on TV aren’t legal marriages. That’s because couples who wed in Australia need to file a Notice of Intended Marriage 30 days before they walk down the aisle. However, couples do have the option of making their union legal at the end of the show (if they make it that far). The Married at First Sight: Australia cast also includes divorcées and people with kids. Same-sex couples have also been featured, though there are none in this season of the show.
Here are the 11 couples who will be featured on the new season of Married at First Sight: Australia.
Carolina and Dion
Carolina is a successful, Brazilian-born business owner and mother to a teenage son. She tends to fall in love fast, but her relationships often end in drama.
She’s matched with Dion, a property developer with a taste for luxury. He’s looking for someone who wants to join his close-knit Italian family and hopes that marrying someone at first sight might lead him to the love of his life.
Domenica and Jack
Domenica is a divorced makeup artist who was left devastated by the end of her previous marriage. She’s outgoing and confrontational and doesn’t hesitate to make herself heard.
Meanwhile, Jack is a non-confrontational financial planner who prefers an old-fashioned approach to dating. He wants to meet a woman who shares his love of music and adventure.
Ella and Mitch
After spending the past nine years as a single woman, Ella is ready to find the right partner who can keep up with her moods – and who isn’t put off by her tendency to overshare.
Ella is paired with Mitch, a financial planner and part-time model. Though he looks like a party boy, he’s actually an introvert who’s ready for a truly committed relationship.
Holly and Andrew
Holly is a cinema manager who is ready to start a family. She’s serious about finding a man who will join her on her journey to becoming a mother.
Her match, Andrew, is a twice-divorced Texan who moved to Australia with his second wife. Though his previous marriages didn’t work out, he’s still hoping to find his soulmate on Married at First Sight: Australia.
Jessica and Daniel
Jessica lost her sister at a young age, which contributed to a fear of abandonment in relationships. She wants a husband who will make her feel safe but who also has a softer side.
Will Jessica find what she’s looking for in Daniel, a personal trainer who turned to fitness to cope with an unstable and stressful childhood?
Kate and Matt
Kate is a clinical nutritionist who has never been in a relationship. She’s battled rejection in the past and feels like she doesn’t deserve love. But perhaps Matt, a law clerk, will change her mind.
Matt and his ex-wife went through a heartbreaking fertility journey and eventually ended up fostering 27 children. Though his marriage ended after seven years, he wants to give love another try.
Olivia and Jackson
Olivia is a bubbly teaching student who attributes her lack of success in the romance department to low self-esteem. She also hit pause on dating while caring for her ill father, but now she’s ready for romance.
Jackson is a fun-loving plumber who is looking for a committed relationship. As the oldest child in his family, he’s a natural protector and has a deep respect for women.
Samantha and Al
Independent Samantha is a fashion brand manager who is committed to her career. But she still has scars after a previous partner cheated on her.
She’s paired with Al, a carpenter who still lives at home. But he knows it’s time to grow up. Al is the life of the party and has no trouble getting attention from women, but he thinks he’s finally ready to settle down.
Selin and Anthony
Selin is a single mom to a 3-year-old son who’s finally ready to jump back into dating in order to find true love, even though that means spending time away from her child.
Anthony is a semi-pro wrestler with a sensitive soul who wants to meet a lifelong partner with whom he and his daughter can share a life.
Selina and Cody
Selina is a hairdresser who feels like she’s never been able to meet her parents’ high expectations. She’s also struggled to connect with men she’s dated in the past.
She’s matched with Cody, a laid-back swim coach and personal trainer who put up emotional walls following a childhood heartbreak. Now, he’s realized he wants a partner to share his life with.
Tamara and Brent
Tamara is a confident and outspoken operations manager who has high expectations for her future partner. She’s proud of her appearance and expects the same of her partner.
Brent is a hospitality manager who lived in Dubai for years before recently returning to Australia. Now, he’s ready to rebuild his life in his home country – and find the woman of his dreams.
