‘Married at First Sight’: Chris Says He’s ‘Pissed Off’ Following Split With Alyssa
Chris opened up about the end of his short-lived marriage to Alyssa on the latest episode of Married at First Sight. The Boston realtor shared his thoughts on the split in the Feb. 23 installment of the Lifetime reality series, saying that he felt his wife never gave their relationship a chance. Meanwhile, Alyssa offered her side of the story, telling a friend that it wasn’t her choice to get a divorce.
Chris and Alyssa had one of the shortest marriages in ‘Married at First Sight’ history
It’s not unusual for Married at First Sight relationships to end in divorce. In season 13, all the show’s five couples split on Decision Day or shortly after. But some people can’t even make it through the full eight-week experiment. That was the case for Chris and Alyssa, whose marriage came to a screeching halting after just 12 days when Chris asked his wife for a divorce.
“Alyssa, from the wedding night, has no interest in being married to me,” Chris told Pastor Cal in the Feb. 16 episode. “She says that we’re not compatible. She’s used the phrase robbed … And it started the night of the wedding.”
“This is my Decision Day,” he added. “I want a divorce.”
Chris suspects Alyssa wasn’t physically attracted to him, says he’s ‘pissed’ about how things turned out
After deciding to end his marriage, Chris reflected on what went wrong. While he went into the experiment hopeful that he would find his person, the whole experience left him feeling frustrated.
“I’m pissed off about how this went,” Chris said in a confessional in the latest episode of Married at First Sight. “Every day I feel less and less like [Alyssa] tried.”
In a video chat with his mom, Chris said he suspected Alyssa had never been honest with him about why she wasn’t willing to give their marriage a chance.
“I genuinely wonder if it was just a purely physical thing and she couldn’t get past that,” he said, adding that he was willing to “say what she won’t” and admit the relationship was dead in the water.
Alyssa says the divorce ‘wasn’t my decision’
Unsurprisingly, Alyssa had a different perspective on her marriage to Chris. She sat down with one of her friends and talked about why she felt the relationship ended.
“He’s not physically my type,” she admitted before adding that she and Chris “never got to have any real conversations with each other.”
Though things didn’t go well between Alyssa and Chris on the honeymoon, she said she was ready to start with a clean slate once they got back to Boston. But, in her mind, Chris wasn’t ready to meet her halfway. She added that she “didn’t feel any effort” on his part.
“It wasn’t my decision” to get a divorce, she told her friend.
Her former husband disagreed.
“When I look at her saying I decided to end it, I go, no, you did, a long time ago,’” Chris said during an appearance on Married at First Sight Afterparty. “She’s mad I didn’t play along for two months.”
New episodes of Married at First Sight Season 14 air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
