‘Married at First Sight’: Olivia Claims Brett Has Layers — Fans Aren’t Convinced

Married at First Sight couple Brett and Olivia have had fans wondering if the matchmaking experts are really putting in the right amount of effort. The two have not been on the same page about finances or children, and Brett seems like more of a playboy where Olivia wants to settle down. Now, Olivia is claiming that Brett has layers to him, but fans don’t seem convinced. 

Olivia seems unsure that Brett wants to settle down 

While Married at First Sight star Olivia seems ready to settle down with the right man, it’s not entirely clear if Brett has the same interest. Things took a bad turn right off the bat when Brett started hitting on another woman during the bachelor party. 

Olivia sat down to watch the first episode again after filming had wrapped, and she told Us Weekly that she wasn’t so sure that Brett was ready to settle down to begin with. 

“As for Brett, his dad did not seem thrilled and his siblings didn’t have much to say — the looks on their faces say it all. They all seemed shocked that he would even consider getting married given his dating history,” she told the publication.

The two have butted heads on other issues since then. It’s become clear that Olivia does not prioritize having a family, where Brett has an interest in having children in the future. 

Additionally, the two appear to approach finances from very different perspectives. Olivia prefers to spend her money on experiences she will enjoy in the now, while Brett seems to prefer to save for future events. 

Olivia claims that Brett has layers 

Despite the Married at First Sight pair’s obvious differences, Olivia claims that there’s more to Brett than meets the eye. In fact, she claims he has more layers than viewers might expect based on his behavior so far. 

“Brett’s flirting was definitely shocking to see. He would discuss his dating habits pretty openly but he did not outwardly flirt with women in front of me. I think Brett has many layers and I think those can come off very confusing for viewers,” Olivia told Screen Rant.

As for Brett’s family, who many fans were turned off by, Olivia says she felt welcomed and as if she meshed well with them. 

They (Brett’s family) were very personable and meshed well with my family and friends. I felt like we all would get along great. His brothers are jokesters but I enjoyed it. His sister is a sweetheart also,” she added.

‘Married at First Sight’ fans aren’t convinced

Fans of Married at First Sight are still largely in the camp that Brett and Olivia are not a good match. 

“There’s something not right about this guy. Isn’t he the ‘serial dater’? Dates cost money and yet, he worries that Olivia’s interests would interfere with his ‘retirement.’ In an earlier episode, he mentioned that sex was fun. I agree, it can be, but when you couple that attitude with being a serial dater, it makes me wonder if Brett sees sex as a sport and women just playthings. This marriage not only will not last, it shouldn’t, for Olivia’s sake,” pointed out one Redditor.

However, not everyone else agrees. Some fans have recently pointed out some of Olivia’s own bad behavior. Notably, they seemed bothered by how she was unwilling to spend much on Brett. 

“Olivia is judgy. I make more than my husband so I contribute more towards bills and if we go on vacation, I’m generally the one paying for most of it,” wrote another user. 

“I was most disappointed by Olivia when she said that she wasn’t open to spending her money for the both of them. If he can’t afford some of these things, and she wants to do them, she should cough up some money,” wrote another user.
