‘Married at First Sight’ Season 14: Chris Feels ‘Blindsided’ After Wedding, Accuses Alyssa of Expecting a ‘Perfect Person’
Chris and Alyssa’s marriage looks like it’s going from bad to worse on the next episode of Married at First Sight Season 14. After a less-than-spectacular wedding, the pair jet off to Puerto Rico for their honeymoon. Unfortunately, spending more time together doesn’t seem to lead to any sparks between the couple, who some fans suspect won’t even make it to Decision Day.
Alyssa and Chris from ‘Married at First Sight’ didn’t spend their wedding night together
Chris, a real estate agent, and Alyssa, who owns a dog rescue, said “I do” in the Jan. 19 episode of Married at First Sight Season 14. But things went sideways for the pair almost from the start.
Alyssa wasn’t physically attracted to Chris, and she seemed unimpressed when he tried to talk to her about some of his hobbies, which include disc golf. Things got worse when she chatted with his friends, who told her that he could sometimes be “condescending” and “overbearing.” Chris described his new wife as “beautiful,” but one of Alyssa’s friends told Chris that he was definitely “out of her comfort zone.”
After the reception, the newly married couple headed to the hotel. But Alyssa left her husband waiting in the hallway while she spoke with a producer off-camera, saying that she didn’t feel comfortable sleeping in the same room as him. The two ultimately spend their wedding night apart.
Things don’t improve for Alyssa and Chris on their honeymoon
While Alyssa and Chris got off to a rocky start, it seemed possible that things might improve once they got to know each other better on their honeymoon. But it doesn’t seem like that’s the case.
“I don’t think I feel comfortable staying in the same room with somebody, like, that I don’t know very well,” she says in a teaser (via Twitter) for the next episode of Married at First Sight Season 14, which airs Jan. 26.
“He just rubbed me the wrong way,” she says.
Chris thinks Alyssa isn’t giving him a chance
Chris seems frustrated by what he sees as Alyssa’s refusal to give him a fair shake.
“There was never a point in this process where you put in an effort,” he tells the woman the Married at First Sight experts matched him with during a heated discussion on their hotel room balcony. She tells him that’s “not true.”
“I think you went into this expecting the perfect person,” he says. “And when you got somebody who wasn’t, you said ‘I’m done. I’m not even gonna take any steps.’”
“No, I don’t expect the perfect person,” she replies. “That’s not the case.”
“She told me that we just didn’t vibe,” Chris admits in a confessional interview. “I feel blindsided.”
New episodes of Married at First Sight Season 14 air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
