‘Married at First Sight’: What Mindy Shiben Really Thinks About Zach Justice and Why They’re Still in Contact
One of the most unique and popular reality dating shows is Married at First Sight. The premise of the show is simple, and as its title states, two strangers agree to meet a complete stranger, and they are then married. Each season of the show follows multiple pairs of couples for weeks before they decide to recommit to each other or not.
The season follows the couples, each of whom are married, go on a honeymoon, and live for eight weeks as a legally married couple. The two then decide to continue the marriage or get divorced. There are many examples of the marriages working out and leading to happy and loving marriages, but this was not the case for ice-skating coach Mindy Shiben and her personal trainer husband Zach Justice.
Shiben recently took part in an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, where she answered fan’s questions about what she learned during her time on the show, as well as her and now former husband’s relationship.
Mindy Shiben’s time on Married at First Sight
Shiben appeared on the tenth season of Married at First Sight, which also followed the Washington D.C. based couples of Jessica Studer and Austin Hurd, Taylor Dunklin and Brandon Reid, Meka Jones and Michael Watson, and Katie Conrad and Derek Sherman. On the show, Shiben was married to Zach Justice, but from the start, the marriage had issues.
The pair was matched by relationship experts Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Cal Roberson, and Dr. Viviana Coles. Shiben and Justice decided that they would not continue their marriage, even before the show’s Decision Day.
The two barely interacted when cameras were not rolling, and Justice refused to kiss or contact his wife. The final straw for Shiben was the fact that Justice was secretly texting and her friend Lindsay. Shiben confronted her husband about his relationship with Lindsay, which led to the decision that the two were not a good fit.
Shiben and Zach Justice’s relationship
Shiben’s relationship on the show was up and down, and mostly down. Shiben has said that she was unsure about Justice and his commitment to the relationship starting early in the show’s production.
Justice seemed to play with Shiben’s emotions during the show, as he frequently mentioned a “secret” that he refused to reveal to his wife. After the show, one of Shiben’s closest friends trashed Justice, saying that he was “full of s***,” and that Shiben deserved someone much better.
Shiben has been diplomatic and friendly when discussing Justice after their time together and has encouraged him to find his own sense of peace. Justice was also seen going out for drinks with fellow Married at First Sight participant Katie Conrad after the season ended, leading to questions about a possible relationship between the two divorcees. Justice and Minden are still in contact as they work out the terms of their separation and divorce, and remain relatively friendly.
Shiben’s ‘Ask Me Anything’ session on Reddit
Shiben recently participated in an Ask Me Anything session with fans on Reddit. Shiben’s session consisted of questions about her experience on the show, as well as what she thought of Justice. At the end of the day, even though she didn’t get the happily ever after marriage that she wanted, Shiben enjoyed her time on the reality show.
When asked if it was worth it to go on the show, Shiben responded, “Overall, I think it was worth it. I didn’t get the marriage I wanted, but I learned so much and met amazing people. I wouldn’t take it back.” Fans of Shiben and the show hope that someday, she will find a partner that truly loves and respects her.
