‘Married at First Sight’: Why Did Taylor Call Brandon a ‘Little B*tch?’
Brandon Reid and Taylor Dunklin quickly became one of the most controversial couples on Lifetime’s Married at First Sight Season 10. While Brandon, a sales manager, and Taylor, a research scientist, initially seemed like a great match because of their outgoing personalities, gorgeous looks, and driven lifestyles, things almost immediately seemed to break down between the pair.
On the Jan. 29 episode of Married at First Sight, “Trouble in Paradise,” Brandon and Taylor had a major, day-long fight on their third day of marriage. During their honeymoon in Panama, Taylor’s attempt at a cute video of her husband backfired and ended in a panic attack and the silent treatment.
Taylor woke Brandon up by recording him snoring
The Married at First Sight stars are given mini cameras to record themselves with as they begin their journeys together. Sometimes the cast members talk about their marriages with their cameras, while in other cases, they just record what they’re doing when the camera crews aren’t around.
Using her handheld camera, Taylor started to film Brandon next to her in bed as he snored. “Can you hear that, the sweet sound of snoring? That’s the sound of being married,” she joked in the video.
But when Brandon woke up, he got out of bed and took off his shirt without a word to his wife.
As he got ready for the day, Taylor tried to engage him in conversation about breakfast and parasailing, but Brandon wasn’t having it. “Are you good, Brandon? Or no?” his wife finally asked. She was met with silence.
“So Brandon wakes up and he’s not in the best mood,” the Married at First Sight bride said. “He’s not talking to me. I’m just very confused at this point. I don’t know what’s going on at this point…the Brandon I thought I knew changed very quickly.”
The ‘Married at First Sight’ stars clashed all day
The silent treatment apparently continued for most of the day. Brandon shut down and refused to acknowledge or engage with Taylor at all.
Later, while hanging out with the other couples by the pool, Brandon sarcastically jabbed at his new wife, saying: “We are very big on respect, and that’s huge. Especially when you woke me up with a camera in my face.”
Taylor didn’t appreciate Brandon’s silent treatment or refusal to spend time with her. “He’s being, like, a little b*tch,” she complained to Lifetime producers, as she explained that he’d snapped at her when she tried to buy him a drink and put away his clothes.
Brandon told producers that he felt violated and “freaked out” by Taylor’s recording of him while he was in bed. “It started to make me think, like, have you been videotaping me this whole entire time?” he said.
Brandon finally apologized to his new wife
While having a drink later in the evening, Brandon came clean about the real reason for his silent treatment. “You woke me up with a camera in my face,” the Married at First Sight star accused his wife. “I had a panic attack.”
Taylor wasn’t so sure. “You didn’t look scared,” she insisted. “You didn’t jump out of the bed.” She added, All I did was make a cute video of you snoring, which obviously set you off…In my book, it’s weird.”
Brandon apologized for his anxiety about the moment and his behavior afterward. He admitted he should have explained what was wrong much earlier. “What I’m telling you is, I apologize,” he said. “It was a lot for me.”
When Taylor tried to continue the conversation, though, tempers flared yet again. “I make mistakes, but damn, I apologized, like, a thousand times,” Brandon shot back. “Get over it.”
“Don’t talk to me like that,” Taylor declared. “I didn’t sign up to be disrespected.”
The Married at First Sight stars continued to fight it out and finally ended up kissing after Brandon apologized again. He admitted he was “being stupid” and in the wrong.
Still, while Brandon and Taylor went on to have a great time at an animal sanctuary the following day and in the bathtub with a bottle of champagne that night, things still felt off between the new husband and wife at the end of the episode.
