Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially headed for divorce as of August 2024. Before making their split official, the couple spent a lot of time apart. Lopez had her Bridgerton-themed birthday bash in the Hamptons while Affleck stayed in Los Angeles. Now, a source claims that some celebrities aren’t happy about Lopez’s New York takeover.

Jennifer Lopez grew up in the Bronx borough of New York City, so she’s no stranger to the East Coast. She lived with Ben Affleck in their $60 million LA mansion for the past few years. However, she now might want to return to her home state.
In July 2024, Lopez threw herself a Bridgerton-themed birthday party at her home in the Hamptons in New York. The party included horse-drawn carriages, an orchestra, and Regency-era clothing worn by her and her guests.
In 2013, Lopez purchased her $10 million home in the Hamptons. The 8,660-square-foot property has eight bedrooms, a pool, a sauna, a steam room, and a home theater. She spent at least a month in this home while her soon-to-be ex-husband, Ben Affleck, spent time in Los Angeles during the 2024 summer. Lopez was also seen out in the Hamptons with Affleck’s eldest daughter, Violet.
Unfortunately, several celebrities allegedly aren’t happy about Lopez taking over the Hamptons. A source told In Touch Weekly that Gwyneth Paltrow, Martha Stewart, and Beyoncé “resent” Lopez’s behavior.
“Now that J. Lo is throwing herself around the Hamptons it’s put quite a few backs up, and not just Gwyneth’s,” the source claimed. “There are others, like Martha Stewart and Beyoncé, who resent the way she’s just swanned in and started acting like the queen bee.”
“All these staged photo opportunities and over-the-top parties are a bit much to handle, considering they all prefer to keep things lower key when they’re at their summer places,” the source continued. “The level of attention she courts is nauseating for a lot of people in town, especially since she’s hardly ever there and has just suddenly run back in the wake of her failing marriage.”

Where will Jennifer Lopez end up after she and Ben Affleck finalize their divorce? A source told In Touch Weekly that Lopez plans to move to New York full-time. She allegedly wanted to do this even when happily married to Affleck.
“Even before things went totally south with Ben, she was pushing for a full-time move to New York, and now she’s decided to go ahead with that after the split,” the insider alleged. ” … There’s nothing to stop her from taking the kids and making a fresh start back in New York. They’ve got plenty of schools back east, and she’s got a great social circle there.”
The source added that Lopez will still “probably keep a place in LA,” but she hopes to escape “the noise and scrutiny on the West Coast.”

Jennifer Lopez could make a full-time move back east. However, a source told People she’s also looking for a new place in Los Angeles.
Ben Affleck and Lopez put their $68 million mansion up for sale. And Affleck closed on a $20 million house of his own on Lopez’s birthday in July 2024. Now, it seems Lopez is seriously looking at properties in Beverly Hills. The source claimed that Lopez was looking at a “truly exceptional” property listed as having a high level of privacy. The insider claimed the home was an “ideal setting for those seeking seclusion.”
Lopez will likely continue to look for a new home on and off as she goes through divorce proceedings.
