Marvel reportedly has big plans for ‘Daredevil’

Marvel is currently one of the most successful studios in Hollywood and rarely does anything on a small budget. The least valuable franchise in the MCU, Ant-Man, runs on a budget of over $100 million, significantly lower than the $700 million the studio spent on Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

Even Marvel’s upcoming shows on Disney+ will reportedly run upwards of $25 million per installment, setting them on par with the studio’s big-screen projects. This puts every franchise under the Marvel banner a big-budget project, and it looks like Daredevil will be included in that group of spenders.

An inside source told We Got This Covered that Marvel has some big plans for the Daredevil reboot that includes some very high stakes for the Man Without Fear. The source did not reveal any specifics about the storyline, but it might include an iconic scene from the comics.

Will Karen Page survive Bullseye’s attack?

A source claims that Marvel is currently kicking around several ideas for Matt. This includes introducing him in another project in Phase 4, such as Spider-Man 3 or even She-Hulk, before giving him his own stand-alone film.

Once Marvel gets to the film stage, the studio reportedly wants to adapt an iconic moment from the comics that features the death of Karen Page.

During the Born Again story arc, Bullseye murders Karen on behalf of Kingpin. In the Netflix series, this story played an important part in Season 3, though the show altered the ending by having Karen survive the attack.

Marvel, of course, has not confirmed the reports about Karen, and these are hardly the only rumors surrounding the project.

This ‘Avengers: Endgame’ star will reportedly cameo

In addition to Daredevil being large in scope and featuring Karen’s death, the source revealed that Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) will be making an appearance in the film.

The insider claims that Marvel wants to have Strange cameo in the movie to give Matt some much-needed advice about the mystical arts. The Sorcerer Supreme will reportedly tell Matt how to fight the main antagonists in The Hand, who have figured out how to raise the dead.

With Marvel already having a full slate for Phase 4 of the MCU, the Daredevil project will likely get underway in Phase 5. This would put it after the events in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which is set to hit theaters in 2022.

If that happens, there is a good chance that Marvel will introduce the character in another movie or television show, a move that would set the stage for his own film.

Who will be Daredevil?

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Daredevil movie is who will play the main character. Charlie Cox enjoyed a lot of praise from fans and critics alike for his portrayal of Matt in the show, though he doesn’t believe Marvel will offer him the part.

According to Screen Rant, Cox recently admitted that Marvel will likely recast all of the characters for the Daredevil movie. The actor, who has not played the character since Netflix canceled the show in 2018, believes everyone’s schedules are too busy to make it happen.

Given how the show was well-received, fans will likely find it hard to see anyone else portray the iconic superhero. Even still, it is good to know that Marvel is working on a Daredevil project and that the character will not sit on the shelf for long.
