Recently, Damon spoke about working with Ben and Casey Affleck on their new comedy, The Instigators. While Ben worked behind the scenes to produce the film, Damon and Casey starred in it. Damon explained in an interview that he has a “real deep abiding respect” for Ben.
“They’re both so good at what they do,” Damon told Yahoo regarding Ben and Casey. “I’ve written movies with both of them; I’ve produced movies with both of them; I’ve acted in movies with both of them. I’ve been directed by Ben. I think it’s just a real deep abiding respect that’s kind of based in 45 years of friendship.”
Damon once again repeated that he has a “deep and abiding kind of respect and love” that transcends everything despite the “frantic” nature of making a film. He also noted that he, Ben, and Casey can “solve problems a lot quicker.” ” … [W]e can just be really blunt with each other because our egos aren’t really involved,” he continued.

Unfortunately, a source said that Ben’s marital woes with Jennifer Lopez affected his friendship with Damon. According to the insider, Damon and his wife wanted to distance themselves from Ben because of how Lopez conducted herself publicly.
“Matt and Ben are planning to make another movie together in the near future and that’s taking up most of their time, but he’s under no obligation to be part of Ben’s personal pity party over whatever problems he’s having with Jennifer or his kids,” the insider told In Touch, according to Yahoo. “Ben has to deal with that stuff himself, and that’s always been Matt and Lucy’s position, even during the best of times.”
The insider added that Damon and his wife preferred to hang out with celebrity couple John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.

“Unstoppable is a tricky one because Ben and Matt are so invested in its success, even if everything you see indicates that Ben and Jennifer are ending their marriage,” the source told In Touch Weekly. “… It puts these guys in a tricky position if Ben and Jennifer are really done, but for now, they both want the movie to hit and exist apart from Ben’s crazy relationship drama.”
