After two years of marriage, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are officially headed for divorce. While Bennifer fans are sad to see the end of an era, Lopez seems to be attempting to salvage her relationship with Affleck’s best friend, Matt Damon. Damon, Affleck, and Lopez worked together on the film Unstoppable. Now, Damon is allegedly trying to get Affleck to act more compassionately toward Lopez.

Jennifer Lopez likely spent a lot of time with Matt Damon during her two-year marriage to Ben Affleck. Affleck and Damon have been best friends since childhood, and they all worked together on the 2024 film, Unstoppable. An insider told In Touch Weekly that Damon “feels pretty bad” for Lopez in her divorce from Affleck. Damon allegedly feels like he’s in “a really tough spot” because of his friendship with Affleck and sympathy for Lopez.

“Matt feels pretty bad for J.Lo,” the insider said. “He’s been liaising with her on the rollout of the movie, so he’s on calls with her all the time, and she has opened up to him about how much she’s hurting.”

The source added that Damon has “been trying to reason with Ben to be a little bit more compassionate to the fact that she’s humiliated right now.” Damon knows Affleck has “demons” that affect him, but he still has loyalty to his best friend. That said, Affleck allegedly doesn’t accept Damon’s position as the middleman between him and Lopez.

“To even suggest that he was somehow at fault really rubs him the wrong way,” the insider said. “He says if Matt, or anyone, were in his shoes, they would have run from that marriage 10 times faster.”

Ben Affleck allegedly confided in Matt Damon regarding his marital woes with Jennifer Lopez before Lopez filed for divorce. Now that the couple is officially over, a source told DailyMail.com that Affleck “broke down in tears” to his best friend.

“Ben is feeling particularly vulnerable and humiliated after his divorce from J.Lo,” an insider said, according to The Mirror. “He broke down in tears and admitted to Matt that he was jealous of his lifestyle.”

Affleck is also close to Damon’s wife, Luciana Barroso. Page Six published a photo showing Affleck kissing the top of Barroso’s head while she and Affleck spent time together in Los Angeles in September 2024. Barroso and Affleck were dressed professionally as they headed into a meeting.

Matt Damon allegedly shut down Jennifer Lopez’s attempts to talk about his best friend

Matt Damon and Jennifer Lopez attended the Unstoppable premiere in September 2024 without Ben Affleck. They were spotted holding hands while in deep conversation. A source told DailyMail.com that Lopez tried to talk to Damon about her divorce, but he didn’t want to discuss it.

“Matt Damon shut down any attempt that J.Lo made to discuss Ben at the premiere,” the insider alleged. “It was her timing that was so awkward because she would have known that pulling Matt aside at the event to have an intimate talk was going to get picked up and go viral.”

Damon allegedly told Lopez he was happy she was doing well during the divorce proceedings but “made it clear” that he didn’t want to discuss the divorce.
