Matt Corboy plays Matt Dickson on ‘This Is Us’
It’s entirely possible that This Is Us fans have seen Corboy before he joined the cast as Matt. The actor has been in a number of projects throughout the years, including The Shield, Battleground, Geo’s Pizza, Hyperlinked, and General Hospital. Corboy has also appeared in Awkward., Rizzoli & Isles, Key and Peele, 2 Broke Girls, Criminal Minds, How to Get Away With Murder, Lucifer, and Revenge.
Who is Matt Dickson to Rebecca Pearson in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6?
Corboy first appeared as Matt in This Is Us Season 3 Episode 14, “The Graduates.” At the time, the new character only showed up for a brief moment. Matt revealed he was a single father to a kid from Kate, Kevin, and Randall’s school. He then proceeded to ask Rebecca out on a date. However, she quickly shot him down.
Meanwhile, Matt returned in This Is Us Season 6 Episode 5. In the Feb. 1 episode, Rebecca and Miguel (Jon Huertas) decide to go speed dating. At first, it doesn’t go well for Rebecca, who is still getting over the death of her husband, Jack (Milo Ventimiglia). But eventually, Rebecca runs into Matt, and the two hit it off immediately.
In the end Matt and Rebecca get coffee together, and it seems like they want to go out on more dates. However, when Rebecca gets home, she gets in a huge fight with teen Kate (Hannah Zeile). The mother-daughter duo eventually apologize to one another. But what does the outburst mean for Rebecca and Matt? We’ll have to wait and see. That said, Corboy hinted that the story isn’t over yet.
‘This Is Us’ guest cast star teases Matt Dickson and Rebecca Pearson’s story in season 6
Ahead of This Is Us Season 6 Episode 5, Corboy teased his guest appearance as Matt on Instagram. The actor shared a photo of himself edited onto the This Is Us Season 6 poster. Then Corboy revealed that Matt will be on the final season for a few more episodes.
“I am very grateful to @mandymooremm and @jonhuertas for making me feel so welcome on set and to @sullivangrams for being such a great director of episode #605,” Corboy wrote. “I’m reprising my role of ‘Matt Dickson’ on the show for the next few weeks and the first episode airs Tuesday night.”
For now, This Is Us fans will have to wait and see what happens to Matt and Rebecca. But eventually, the NBC series will have to show Rebecca and Miguel’s love story. So it’ll be interesting to watch this one unfold. Stay tuned.
