‘Mayans MC’ Season 3 Trailer Teases the Fate of a Character First Seen on ‘Sons of Anarchy’
After more than a year on hiatus, season 3 of Mayans MC is almost here. Recently, FX dropped the first trailer for the new season to give fans their first look at what’s ahead for Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes, brother Angel, and the rest of the biker gang.
But the nearly two-minute clip had some fans concerned. It made it appear that one of the characters — who was first seen in Sons of Anarchy — doesn’t make it out of season 3 alive.
Season 3 of ‘Mayans MC’ sees EZ Reyes as a full-patched member
EZ Reyes (JD Pardo) searched for answers for two seasons, and he finally made a decision about his future by the season 2 finale. Despite his father and brother’s wishes, the former Ivy Leaguer answered the call of the brotherhood. He is now a full-patched member of the M.C.
His decision came after he murdered Dita Galindo (Ada Maris), the mother of Galindo Cartel leader Miguel (Danny Pino). EZ choked the mother of his nemesis to death, and he did it with her blessing. Dita confessed to being responsible for the murder of EZ and Angel’s mother. As a symbolic gesture, she encouraged EZ to take her life in exchange for his mother’s.
Even though Dita tried to make it look like her death was a suicide, it didn’t work. Marcus “El Padrino” Alvarez (Emilio Rivera) saw the tire marks left behind. He knows someone else was there.
This sets up a season 3 that will likely see Miguel avenging his mother. The question is – how will he do it?
Showrunner Elgin James says this is a season about ‘reckoning’
The new season of Mayans MC will be the first without series co-creator and executive producer Kurt Sutter. Co-creator Elgin James has now taken over as showrunner. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, James promised that fans will get to know a lot more about these characters.
“Ghosts of the past come calling for all of the M.C., both individually and as a club; from past loss and loves, to a dead SOA member buried in the Mexican desert,” James said. “This is a season about reckoning. This is the season we get to know these characters beyond the Kutte. This is the season we tell their stories.”
According to the new trailer, one of the stories appears to be about Allesandro Montez (Jacob Vargas). The SAMCRO Road Captain first appeared in season six of Sons of Anarchy and he remained until the finale. But some fans think he isn’t going to last much longer.
Will Montez die in season 3 of ‘Mayans MC’?
In the trailer, fans see Montez giving a warning to an unseen figure. He says that “one wrong move could start a war.” Then, the trailer shows someone wearing a SAMCRO Kutte who is struggling to stop someone from suffocating them. Fans couldn’t see the face, but the patch on the right chest says Road Captain.
It’s not clear if Montez lives or dies, but it did leave many fans concerned.about his fate. The images in the trailer have them worried enough, but there is also a situation with Vargas. After he wrapped on Sons of Anarchy, Vargas reprised his role in season 2 of Mayans MC.
But now, Vargas is a new series regular on the Netflix series Mr. Iglesias. Was he able to shoot both shows at once? Or, is it possible that Montez doesn’t survive so Vargas can move on to his new show?
Fans will just have to wait and see what happens when season 3 of Mayans MC premieres on FX with back-to-back episodes on March 16. Seasons 1 and 2 are available on Hulu.
