‘Mayans MC’ Season 4: Here’s Why EZ Is so Mad at His Dad, Felipe
Mayans MC kicked off season 4 with two new episodes on April 19. The first episode, “Cleansing of the Temple” jumped straight into an all-out war between the Mayans. In the next episode “Hymn Among the Ruins,” things calm down and the Mayans begin the rebuild. Felipe tries to talk to his son, but EZ isn’t having it. Here’s why EZ is so mad at his father.
‘Mayans MC’ Season 4 premiered on April 19
Mayans MC returned with season 4 on April 19th, and the action started immediately. The Santo Padre Mayans were under attack from other charters after EZ detonated a bomb in an attempt to kill Canche. Unfortunately for EZ, Canche survived and spotted EZ fleeing the scene. The Santo Padre charter is nearly killed in the siege until Alvarez shows up and ends the bloodshed.
Episode 2 picks up four months later, and a tentative new order has been established. However, there’s still a lot of tension boiling beneath the surface. EZ’s dad Felipe shows up and attempts to give him a note that someone left for EZ. However, EZ won’t even look at his father and he slams the door in his face.
Why is EZ so mad at his dad?
Mayans MC fans may need a reminder about what went down between EZ and his father prior to season 4. In the season 3 finale, EZ and Gaby were planning to run away from San Padre together and start a new life. However, Felipe couldn’t let that happen. He warns Gaby that EZ will only drag her down and cause her more pain.
“If anything were to happen to you, I wouldn’t be able to take it,” Felipe says.
Gaby takes Felipe’s advice and leaves town without EZ. Felipe tells EZ to “let her go” and he deduces that Felipe convinced her to leave. EZ returns home and finds a note from Gaby that reads, “When summer returns and the roses bloom.”
EZ is understandably crushed, but it’s hard to say Felipe was wrong to warn Gaby. His fears that EZ’s involvement in the club will end up killing Gaby aren’t unfounded. Felipe’s own wife ended up dead because of his family’s involvement in criminal and dangerous activities, and he doesn’t want to see the same thing happen to Gaby.
Edward James Olmos teases ‘Mayans MC’ Season 4
Felipe actor Edward James Olmos returns for Mayans MC Season 4. While speaking with KGET, the actor teased an intense season to come. “This is a very dark show. And the first three seasons don’t quite prepare you for the fourth. You’re in for one hell of a ride, man,” Olmos said.
“It has been so amazing that Elgin has been able to maintain such a difficult thread. Because again, you know, we are talking about people that we all can relate to. We are talking about situations that are happening even in today’s world, and we’re exploring them and moving them forward in a story that has a lot of understanding of what’s going on right now.”
“When you get to the end of the season, you’ll start to understand what’s about to happen to the rest of us in this world that we live in today in regards to how we treat each other, what family is.”
New episodes of Mayans MC Season 4 air Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. EST on FX.
