Before Meeting Taylor Swift, Jack Antonoff Wasn’t a ‘Producer’

Swift is an award-winning artist, recently releasing Folklore and Evermore. When it comes to her original songs, though, some are co-written and co-produced by the singer Antonoff. One of the first songs was “Out of the Woods,” released in conjunction with 1989.
Swift appeared in an official music video for this track, earning praise from fans. Since its release, this song has reached over 150 million Spotify plays. This song wouldn’t be the first or the last time Antonoff collaborated with Swift.
Jack Antonoff thanked Taylor Swift after they received a Grammy Award for ‘Folklore’
Since working on “Out of the Woods,” Swift and Antonoff developed a close professional relationship. They collaborated on Swift’s 2020 release Folklore, later appearing at and performing during the 2021 Grammy Awards.
It was this album that earned Swift the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, with Antonoff joining Swift on stage to accept the recognition. He later took to Instagram, posting pictures from the ceremony and rehearsal process. He also took the opportunity to thank Swift for launching his career as a producer.
“@taylorswift, from 1989 to here… g******,” Antonoff captioned his post. “You are the one who let me produce records first. Before you, I just ‘wasn’t a producer’ according to the herbs. I just wasn’t let in that room. Then I met you, we made ‘Out of the Woods,’ and you said, ‘that’s the version,’ and that changed my life right there.”
Jack Antonoff writes and produces music for other artists (and for Bleachers)
Antonoff is known for collaborating with chart-topping artists. That includes St. Vincent, Lana Del Rey, Clairo, FKA Twigs, The Chicks, Carly Rae Jepsen, and P!nk. Recently, the songwriter partnered with Lorde for the 2021 album Solar Power. He even performed live versions of Lorde’s songs for the singer’s YouTube channel.
Of course, Antonoff also creates original music thanks to his indie-pop band Bleachers. “Rollercoaster” and “Wild Heart” from the group’s first record were featured on the Love, Simon soundtrack, while “Let’s Get Married” was used on the Netflix original series Fuller House.
Thanks to Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night, Bleachers performed on Saturday Night Live. The group will embark on their How Dare You Want Tour in 2022, making stops at the Red Rocks arena and New York City’s Radio City Music Hall. Part of his New Years’ resolution was to write a new Bleachers album.
